The 2014 Grand Pavois, ready to welcome water sports enthusiasts

The Grand Pavois show opens its doors tomorrow and Bateaux.com wanted to know if everything was ready to receive the many visitors a few hours before the launch. Pierrick Garenne, the Deputy Commissioner of the Grand Pavois, was kind enough to answer a few questions. Enjoy your reading and see you tomorrow on the show with all the team of the website!

Ãeuros D-1 of the opening of the grand Pavois exhibition everything is ready? A word about the organization ?

Pierrick Garenne : Everything will be ready tomorrow to welcome the visitors, we can never say that a show is ready at D-1 because the exhibitors keep arriving on the last day. But what is already good is that we will be able to enjoy excellent weather conditions.

In terms of atmosphere, at the Grand Pavois we expect 100 new boats and some European and world premieres in our market segment. That is to say, motor boats from 7 to 9 meters, sailboats from 10 to 12 meters and multihulls and ocean cruisers with aluminum hulls, resistant to all conditions (extreme coldâ?¦) like the Garcia.

A number of new features will attract visitors, with an average of 90,000 to 100,000 people expected.

Otherwise we have set up a certain number of animations. Our Baseline "the reference for enthusiasts" is based on the fact that many of our visitors sail and therefore we have set up animations that speak to them. First of all, the 6 boats of the Route du Rhum, then Corentin Chatel-Perron with his boat Gold of Bengal inaugurated in Bangladesh and built in jute fiber, but also Gwalaz made on the mold of the Tricat 25 and built by Roland Jourdain in linen fiber. He adapted the manufacturing process of the Gold of Bengal and it is interesting to see the two boats next to each other but also the two builders.

We will also have more classic yachts, old motor boats as well as animations on the beach because we are one of the only shows to be able to offer visitors a beach integrated to the show. This year, 200 underprivileged children will be able to discover water sports, to learn about sailing and the different water activities. The idea is to always renew the number of participants.

Not forgetting Antoine Albeau, Robert Teriitehau and François Gabart, the second sponsor, who will be taking part in all these activities.

In summary, it looks good, we have a lot of animations in addition to the new products.

What are the key events at the show?

These are above all the exhibitors' new products. These are the must-haves, that's what makes the strength of the Grand Pavois, to present new stars, the must-haves.

The meetings with the sailors who always sign with the Grand Pavois, it is rather nice. It gives us a proximity with the environment and we like to maintain that.

Is there a program for the day? Would you have a typical itinerary to recommend to visitors?

It's a bit complicated because there are many things to see, especially since there are thematic areas according to passions. We have a fishing area for enthusiasts with professionals present, the beach area with initiations and demonstrations to enhance the practice. There should be 2,000 baptisms. We also have the wooden village with beautiful sailboats, as well as pontoons to see the boats afloat. This is what the visitors prefer.

Of course there is also the hall of the guest country of honor, which this year is China with the province of Liaoning, which is a province very focused on boating and has its own show. For us it is the opportunity to make an animation through the discovery of a country but also to put the professionals of the nautical industry in relation with different countries. As a reminder, we are an association managed by nautical professionals, so we have the notion of being a tool for these professionals. This is important.
