Maxus 35, a promising 10m sailboat for comfortable cruising

Maxus presented at the Grand Pavois 2022 in La Rochelle, a new unit in its range of sailboats. This particularly well finished sailboat caught our attention during the visit of this show.

A 10-meter sailboat in the Maxus fleet, that seems quite big to us who only see the local market. However, the Northman shipyard, which produces the Maxus range of sailing boats, has already had a Maxus 33 and a Maxus 34 in its catalog for several years. But these have remained confined to their Polish market, being mainly intended for sailing on lakes. The real novelty is not in the length, but in the ability of the Maxus 35 to sail at sea.

Large draft as standard

Even if it is not really 35 feet long, this is a commercial name to which we are accustomed by all shipyards, the hull length is announced at 9.98 m. This yacht is available in a large draft in the standard version with 1.95 m, but also with a small draft of 1.50 m. For the moment, the twin keel version, proposed on the other models of the range, remains under study.

Modern lines

The exterior line of this sailboat is resolutely modern with a deckhouse surrounded by a long black porthole, protected by a small cap. The cockpit with its 2 steering wheels and its transom that opens into a bathing platform complete this line. At the front, a delphinière integrated in the deck lengthens the silhouette.

Very well placed product

The steering wheel and rudder assembly was entrusted to Jefa. The rudder blade is very deep, to offer a precision steering always appreciated by sailors. The choice of Jefa for all this steering mechanism shows the shipyardâ??s will to offer the best on the market in this fieldâ?¦

As standard, the Maxus 35 is powered by a 29 horsepower engine. Surprisingly, it can be installed in the shaft line or in the saildrive. This is a very rare choice, as construction sites try to limit the number of options.

2 or 3 cabins

We discovered the Maxus 35 in its 2 cabin version, but it will also exist in 3 cabins. In 2 cabins, the toilet is located at the foot of the starboard companionway. Remarkable for this size of boat, the toilet is separate from the shower!

From the shower, a hatch gives access to a large hold, which is also accessible from the cockpit. But the clever thing is that this aft locker is separated from the hold by an opening panel. You can therefore store your belongings there, without having to retrieve them from the bottom of the hull. This large storage volume will be appreciated to accommodate the dinghy, the spinnaker and even folding bikes if needed.

The saloon is spacious, with a nice headroom. The chart table, minimalist, but which has the quality to exist, is raised to leave the place to a bed. At the front, the cabin is classically at the tip.

Our visit allowed us to appreciate the finishing touches of this sailboat, entirely covered with LED lighting which gives a cosy and modern feel to the interior.

A price at the level of the competition

Offered from 167,123 euros including tax, the well-equipped Maxus 35 that we visited was displayed at 237,730 euros including tax. A competitive price when compared to competitors such as the Oceanis 34, the Sun Odyssey 349 or the Dufour 37. Compared to them, the Maxus 35 has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of its construction, finish and equipment!
