Alium 42 S, a hotly contested segment with not a lot of direct competitors

Alium is up against some very well-known competitors

The 40- to 45-foot day cruiser segment is highly competitive today. However, the Alium has a few features that set it apart from its competitors, starting with its aluminum construction, that's what we see in this fourth and final part.

The market for 12-meter (40 ft) boats has been booming for some years now, as boats in this category offer enough comfort to spend a little time at sea, are long enough to deal with bad weather, but also remain easily maneuverable without the need for a captain. The Alium 42 S echoes this description point by point.

40- to 45-foot boats, a very popular segment

It's easy to see why this segment attracts so many competitors. In its path, the Alium 42 S finds well-known names such as Wally and its Wallytender 43, as well as the Fjord 41, the Pardo P43 and the Vandutch 40, to name just a few. While the Vandutch and the slightly smaller Fjord are logically priced a little lower, the Alium is practically on a par with the Pardo, priced at just under $1,200,000, while the Wally is a little higher, but not by much. What's more, these are starting prices, and the customization of each boat can totally change the price.

Assets to make the difference

What makes the difference is, of course, its aluminum construction, a very good asset, but also its eye-catching styling, original deck layout and high degree of customization. These are all important factors when choosing a boat. The reputation of the shipyard that builds it can also be a good point, as most of the boats built by this factory are still sailing today.

Finally, in addition to the two other versions of the 42, the SC and T-Top, the shipyard has unveiled plans for the 52, in two versions, and plans to add a 34-footer to its range in the near future.
