Louise Cervera first overall in ILCA 6
A fine start for Frenchwoman Louise Cervera, demonstrating her excellent level of preparation for her first Games. In the lead from the very first mark, she was able to handle the pressure:
" It's great to start with a win. My plan was to give it my all. I had good speed and I started on the right side, so I took advantage of it to stay ahead. It's a good start - I'd dreamed of it! I would have liked to have done a second one. I had a good feeling. My tactics today were to keep a close eye on the different wind strengths, avoid tacking too much and keep up the speed. Taking the first yellow jersey at my first Olympic Games gives me confidence and reassures me a little, because before you start you don't know how to position yourself in relation to the others. What's also incredible is the crowd of supporters at the harbour exit. It gives you a thrill and extra energy, it makes you want to pull harder, to go for it with your heart."

In ILCA 7, where two rounds were run, JB Bernaz finished the day in 10th place e place.
iQFoil: Nicolas Goyard's game over, Hélène Noesmoen maintains her 5 e place
In the women's category, Hélène Noesmoen ran all 4 of the day's heats and finished the day in 5th place e place. She is therefore qualified for the quarter-finals.
In the men's category, Nicolas Goyard was a big disappointment, despite his excellent Olympic preparation. The New Caledonian finished in 15th place e place, and is therefore not selected for the Medal Race.

49er final cancelled twice
It was an emotional elevator for the 49er crews. In the first final, just as the Spaniards, imperious since the start of the event, were cruising to victory, the race was cancelled by the committee due to lack of wind.
A second start was given, but again the race was called off when the whole fleet came to a standstill at the leeward mark, tossed about by a small chop.
A very long wait in the 49er FX, which ends with the postponement of the final
A less dramatic scenario in the 49er FX, as the ten crews selected for the Medal Race spent the day waiting for a hypothetical start, which was eventually postponed.
Friday will therefore be a very busy day on the Olympic course. Four finals will be raced, in 49er, 49er FX, iQFoil men and women. It's also the start of the 470 competition, where France will be represented by Jérémie Mion and Camille Lecointre.
