Grand Banks 62, the long-distance cruiser that's not afraid of speed

Grand Banks Yachts Limited presents the Grand Banks 62, a 20-meter trawler with a semi-planing hull, designed for long, safe cruising.

A model based on the success of the Grand Banks 60

Grand Banks Yachts Limited announces the launch of the Grand Banks 62, a nearly 20 m trawler combining speed and range for long distance cruising. This model builds on the success of the popular Grand Banks 60 launched in 2017. Like all the brand's models, it features a V-Warp hull, the brainchild of Australian skipper and boatbuilder Mark Richards.

Home-built technology

V-Warp technology is also used on Palm Beach Motor Yachts. This technology combines hull form, composite construction materials and a precise construction process. The result is a hull with a fine water intake, a graceful curvature at the ship's side and a shallow hull angle at the stern.

Like all Grand Banks models, the 62 is built with a precise ratio of resin to unidirectional, multiaxial E-Glass fiber, resulting in a strong, fast and efficient hull. The hull is then fused directly to the carbon fiber structure, bulkheads, deck and superstructure.

Great speed for a trawler

Depending on the choice of engine, the Grand Banks 62 can reach a top speed of 30 knots and a high cruising speed of 28 knots. It offers a range of 2,000 miles at 10 knots. At 20 knots, average fuel consumption is around 121 liters/hour. On this speed curve, the hull maintains an angle of 6°, keeping the waterline in the water as much as possible.

Standard engines include two Volvo D13s, each rated at 900 hp, with Twin Disc MGX 5096A inline shaft transmissions. Options include 1000 hp Volvo D13s or 900 hp Volvo IPS 1200Ss.

More interior volume for greater privacy

By increasing the interior volume between the Grand Banks 60 and 62, the starboard guest cabin has been enlarged, offering a transverse double bed in addition to a single bed. A utility area also accommodates a washer-dryer. Grand Banks has also added an additional bathroom directly linked to the guest cabin, offering a total of three cabins and three bathrooms to maximize cruising comfort.

The master cabin amidships features a king-size bed, a private bathroom with a large shower, plenty of storage space, and plenty of light and fresh air thanks to portholes and deck hatches. Forward, the VIP cabin is equipped with a queen-size bed, storage space and en-suite bathroom.

On the main deck, large opening windows bathe the saloon, cockpit and aft galley in natural light. The starboard helm station, along with the companionway bench seat, enjoy excellent forward visibility. Several interior layouts are available, including a Skylounge model, very popular on Grand Banks 85. Whichever plan you choose, Grand Banks works with each owner to ensure that your individual needs are met.

This new Grand Banks 62 also reflects the company's experience in building blue water cruisers. Wide gangways protected by bulwarks provide safe, easy access from the foredeck to the cockpit. The starboard side door at helm level facilitates manoeuvring.

The rear of the flybridge can be used to store the tender, while protecting the cockpit from the elements. Finally, the large "lazarette" stores all the equipment needed for nautical activities.
