Highfield eJet330, the latest eco-friendly toy

The Salon du Multicoque, held in La Grande Motte from April 3 to 7, 2024, was an opportunity for semi-rigid builder Highfield to present an unusual prototype. It's a RIB powered by a jet itself, with an electric motor.

With its jet propulsion, the Highfield eJet330 semi-rigid breaks new ground. Its propulsion is provided by an electric motor. This boat is designed as a tender, even if its performance could see it play in a bigger league.

5 people on board

The eJET330 is a 3.36 m semi-rigid (i.e. quite small) that can be used as a tender with a maximum boarding capacity of 5 people. The model presented is a prototype, the definitive version of which will be presented to the general public at the end of summer 2024, notably at the Cannes boat show in September.

Like all Highfields, the eJET330 has an aluminum hull and fairly large Hypalon tubes. Space inside the boat is 1.82 x 0.90 m. The boat weighs 225 kg with batteries. The layout is limited to an aft bench seat and a helm station on an overhead console to starboard.

While the boat presented here already offered a good level of finish, a few changes will appear on the final model. This will be the case for the rear trunk, which will extend further aft to increase its volume and protect the jet outlet. A swim ladder will also complete the equipment.

Built-in batteries

In terms of storage, this boat also features a front locker for all your gear, while the rear locker under the helm seat is used extensively for on-board electrical equipment, including the battery charger. These batteries, a 10 kW 48 V array, power a 15 kW motor.

25 knots max

With its jet base, this RIB boasts a range of 45 minutes at full speed, at 25 knots. But in normal dinghy mode, it offers 2h30 of use. Just engaged, at 2 knots, it offers a range of 7 hours. Full charge is expected in 2h40.

Although the boat was presented in black, several colors are already in the catalog. However, there is no price, not even an estimate, for this model. Please be patient...
