Test / Centouno Navi Vespro, a fast dayboat concept based on waterjets reaching 51 knots

Designed by a man with a passion for design and fine automobiles, the Vespro is the first in a long-awaited range of extraordinary boats. A pure Italian product, with all the madness and technical sophistication you could wish for, the Vespro makes you want to discover it in greater depth. First part of our test on the Vespro Centouno concept.

Presented at the Cannes 2023 boat show, the Vespro, even docked among dozens of other units, turned a lot of heads. It has to be said that the reputation of Marco Arnaboldi, founder of Centouno Navi with Manuela Lucchesi, precedes him when it comes to building exceptional boats. Founder of the famous Italian shipyard AB Yachts, Marco has spent 30 years launching large and very large yachts that have become benchmarks for sportiness, design and elegance. Superyachts ranging in size from 92 to 127 feet, with prices approaching several million dollars...

A neo-retro look

When word got out that this enthusiast of fast boats and motor racing - he grew up in a unique environment, to say the least, his grandmother was a cousin of Enzo Ferrari - was back on the scene with a jet-powered powerboat, all eyes were on the neo-retro look of the Vespro. The naval architect and engineer welcomes us aboard with a big smile and a firm handshake, just as happy as we are to accompany him in testing this 16.50 m long, 4.60 m wide beast powered by 2 Man V8 1,200 hp engines. Who wouldn't be delighted to try and push this incredible dayboat with its stunning design, weighing in at 21 tonnes fully loaded, to the 56 knots announced by the shipyard?

(Very) big ambitions

Although Vespro, the name chosen for this first opus, refers to a very special time of the late afternoon, that of vespers, don't be fooled by the name, for the sensations promise to be on hand as the sun rises over the Bay of Cannes. The Centouno shipyard's ambition with the Vespro is enormous: neither more nor less than to launch the best model in terms of engineering, performance and design! With the added bonus of being able to spend several nights on board in a very different style.

The Vespro is the first of 3 exceptional boats. It will soon be joined by the Forza and Eterea models, 30 and 40 meters long, with particularly aggressive layouts and speeds approaching 60 knots...
