Test / XO DFNDR 8, a fast, high-performance commuter for a wide range of activities on the water

The XO DFNDR 8 is XO Boats' latest addition to the Commuter DFNDR range. With its 8 m length, it lends itself to a variety of sailing programs and locations. Let's take a look at the DFNDR 8's program, layout, seaworthiness, competition and pricing.

Launched in January 2023, the DFNDR 8 is the little brother of the DFNDR 9, and the second model in the Commuter range from Finnish shipyard XO Boats. While it retains the look of the range, its deck layout differs with the addition of a full-width console. The DFNDR 8 is designed for a wide range of applications, and can be either totally enclosed or transformed into a T-Top Boat by opening the side windows.

The layout also caters for a wide range of nautical activities: fishing, lounging, piloting, water sports... Despite its simple layout, the boat features well-thought-out comfort features, including a rather spacious toilet in the port console.

The DFNDR 8 stands out for its handling and ease of piloting. Renowned for the marine quality of its boats, XO Boats proves it again with this new model. With its clean lines, it sails quickly and safely, and proves to be both playful and responsive.
