Powercat, a host of 2023 innovations in motorized multis

The motorized multihull has a bright future ahead of it, if the numerous launches at the Autumn 2023 boat shows are anything to go by. Whether for a weekend or a long cruise, in electric or combustion-powered versions, outboard or inboard, the entire market is represented.

Catana Group launches new YOT powercat brand . The first model is a walk-around outboard catamaran powered by two 300 hp outboards. Two cabins will be located on the lower deck.

11.40 m - T38 Powercat

Spanish builder Tesoro Yachts has made a name for itself with its elegant, well-built yachts. Now it is preparing to launch a catamaran, for which no images have yet been released. The 11.40 m unit has a draft of just 0.50 m, and its sporty vocation is confirmed by its two Mercury V10 outboard engines, each rated at 400 hp.

12.64 m - Aquila 42

Launched in early 2023, l'Aquila 42 from Aquila Yachts is a VPLP design. This is the first collaboration between the shipyard and the naval architects. The smallest model in the range, it nevertheless retains the characteristics of the other models, notably access to the foredeck from the flybridge. A great deal of work has gone into the shape of the hulls, and foils are also available as an option. The Aquila 42 is available in two-, three- and four-cabin versions.

The Silent 62 3-Deck is Silent Yachts' first three-deck model . Designed and built by Slient-Yachts in carbon fiber to reduce overall weight, this new catamaran has benefited from CFD studies to optimize performance. The flybridge is available in 3 different configurations: open-air saloon, enclosed saloon or owner's suite. Like the Silent 60, from which it was designed, it uses two 340 kW electric motors, a 150 kW diesel generator and a 286 kWh water-cooled lithium battery, in addition to 42 solar panels.

The second model in the M-Line range of power catamarans, initiated by Prestige Yachts, the M8 is also the largest. Offering 270 m2 of living space, she features numerous interior and exterior living areas, as well as a beautiful 30 m2 owner's cabin positioned between the two hulls, with dedicated access. Numerous customization and layout options are available, including the positioning of the galley in the hulls or on the main deck.

22.70 m - BGM75

Revealed in 2022, this new design introduces the first Bluegame multihull. Built in carbon, the BGM75 features an interesting design - a hallmark of the shipyard - recalling the look of a monohull while offering the space of a multihull. The shipyard's reduced beam allows for a full-width owner's cabin. With its two 550 hp Volvo Penta engines, it has a cruising speed of 17 knots and a top speed of 20 knots.

23.95 m - 80 Sunreef Power Eco

The 80 Sunreef Power Eco

Fully customizable, the motor catamaran 80 Sunreef Power Eco uses solar power. With 200 m2 of solar panels, the catamaran has a capacity of 36 kWp. Equipped with a battery pack that is a priori 30% lighter than anything else on the market, these are available in 360 kWh or 640 kWh versions. The motors are also available in several power ratings, 2X180 kW or 2x360 kW. While the company claims unlimited range in electric mode, the hybrid version combines both types of propulsion. Inside, four double cabins can accommodate up to 8 passengers.
