Here's a summary of the racing and regatta news for the week of May 22 to 26, 2023. On the program: records, damage, filming, pairings and a selection of new adventures.

Encouraging results in the 470

Hippolyte Machetti and Aloïse Retornaz won bronze medals at the 470 European Championship in San Remo.

Camille Lecointre and Jérémie Mion are hot on their heels in 4th place e this bodes well for the future, 14 months ahead of the Paris Olympic Games.

Two retirements on the Prosailing Tour

The final leg of the Prosailing Tour, between Alghero and Brest, saw two retirements this week. Wind of Trust, skippered by Christopher Pratt, withdrew from the race shortly before passing Gibraltar, due to multiple damage.

Viabilis Océans, skippered by Pierre Quiroga, was diverted to Spain after its mainsail hook broke.

With a 5-mile gap between 1st and 3rd e the crews still racing are in close contact, and should reach Brest over the weekend.

The Ocean Race: records and a violent collision between a cetacean and 11th Hour Racing

Charlie Dalin and Amory Ross were injured in a collision between IMOCA 11th Hour Racing and a sea mammal. Sailing at almost 30 knots at the time of impact, the two crew members were thrown forward, resulting in a head injury for Dalin and a shoulder injury for Ross.

The rest of the crew kept up the pace, and maintained their lead on this hard-fought stage.

The head of the fleet encountered sustained conditions, which enabled Holcim-PRB to beat the 24-hour monohull distance record, covering 640 miles.

Tour Voile 2023 route unveiled

The Tour Voile 2023 will be run in two acts, and in Figaro 3 boats. The first act will see the race integrated into the Tour de Bretagne à la Voile, while act 2 will take crews from Port Haliguen to Pornichet, before a finish in La Rochelle. 12 crews are announced for this new version of the race, whose last edition took place in 2021.

Cannes Yacht Club hosts IRC European Championship

From May 30 to June 3, some fifty boats will be competing on the Cannes waterfront. Nine rounds, including a long coastal course, will be raced by the IRC fleet from all over Europe.

Yves Parlier biopic: filming soon to finish in Lorient and Les Sables d'Olonne

The filming of a TV movie for France Télévisions about Yves Parlier's incredible Vendée Globe race in 2000 is nearing completion.

Actor Samuel Le Bihan will portray the yachtsman from Gironde. Denis Van Weynbergh's IMOCA, decked out in the Aquitaine Innovations livery, provided the backdrop for the filming.

ULTIM on the move

The SVR-Lazartigue trimaran was relaunched in Concarneau after a major winter refit to bring her up to Ultim class standards.

Maxi Banque Populaire XI has set off for two weeks's offshore training. The crew will be cruising off South Africa before heading upstream towards Lorient.

After a busy winter of sailing, Sodebo 3 entered the summer refit and will be back in the water in mid-September.

Duos announced for Jacques Vabre race

Justine Mettraux takes Julien Villion on board for all the double races in the 2023 season.

Thomas Rouxel will be back on board with Thomas Coville on the ULTIM Sodebo 3.

Fabrice Cahierc, whose Ocean Fifty Realites is under construction at CDK , will be on board with Aymeric Chapelier.

Félix de Navacelle joins Tanguy Le Turquais on the IMOCA Lazare.

Vincent Riou will be alongside Aurélien Ducroz on the Class 40 Crosscall.
