Top start of the Pro Sailing Tour

With a mistral wind that gradually strengthened throughout the day up to 28 knots, the 5 Ocean Fifty put on a show, just for the pleasure and delight of the 50 guests who came on board for the three races. Squeaking winches as they passed the buoys, spectacular float lifts, spray from the transoms, sensational accelerations, the magic of the Pro Sailing Tour has once again worked. And this is only the beginning! Tomorrow, after two inshore races to warm up, the crews will leave La Seyne-sur-Mer and head for Bonifacio: 400 miles to cover via the Gulf of Genoa and the Italian islands, which means more than 40 hours of sailing at full speed.

Record breaking Tour of Ireland for Tom Dolan

Tom Dolan set off on Wednesday at 5:37 am (Paris time) to attempt the solo round Ireland record. He was supposed to finish this Sunday before 7:20 am in order to improve on the reference time on the course set in 2015 by Belgian Michel Kleinjans in Class40: 4 days, 1 hour and 53 minutes and 29 seconds. Unfortunately for him, a small talweg generating very light airs on the second half of the course has effectively thwarted his plans and forced the sailor to abandon the record.
