An open model for inland and coastal navigation
Delphia Yachts has given itself a mission, to produce electrically powered boats for inland and coastal navigation. For the moment, the shipyard still offers its models with diesel engines, but by 2025, the Polish shipyard will be all-electric.
Following the launch of the Delphia 11 in 2022, the shipyard, which is part of the Bénéteau Group, has entrusted the design of the new Delphia 10 to Vripack Design. This is the smallest model in the range - 9.78 m overall - which comes in three different versions: Lounge, Lounge Top and Sedan. The first version was the one we saw for the first time at Boot Düsseldorf 2023. It is a motorboat, approved for 8 persons in category C and 10 persons in category D, for sailing on lakes or canals, but also along the coast,
Up to 12 people in the cockpit
This open model with a walkaround deck plan has a displacement hull, efficient with electric propulsion. The emphasis is on fun, life on board, and the pleasure of being together, as evidenced by the very large central cockpit offering multiple seating areas, two tables with flaps, refrigerator and small kitchen area with sink and gas stove and fire.
This deep cockpit is well secured, both by the polyester bulkheads of the benches, which are cut away to starboard to allow access to this relaxation area, and by the wide side decks with a high bulwark. Also on the port side, it is possible to remove the backrest and the seat to access the gangway. Finally, the backrest of the co-pilot seat tilts as needed. Two biminis, one on the front and one on the back, shelter the cockpit and can be joined to increase the coverage.
An easier position for the pilot
At the front, the cockpit is located on the starboard side, with a well-equipped dashboard and a comfortable seat. This is well protected by an elegant rounded windscreen and offers direct access to the starboard side deck and the coupé door just beside it. The pilot can thus easily move onto the very large front deck, which is also secured by a large balcony and equipped with a generous sunbathing area and a bow seat.
Several storage lockers complete this exterior layout, extended at the back by a beautiful bathing platform, which will allow for example to store bicycles.
An interior reserved for couples
The interior is rather cozy, but the dedicated space may seem rather small in proportion to the exterior. The forward point is reserved for scissor beds that can be assembled into a double bed. The port cabin had an office and dressing area in the version visited, a space that can also be converted into a cabin offering two additional berths. Finally, on the starboard side, the bathroom is a nice size with a cabinet with sink, a toilet and a separate shower.
It will be possible to benefit from additional sleeping accommodation by enclosing the cockpit entirely, combined with heating or air conditioning.
Inboard electric drive from Torqeedo
Delphia presents its new model as stable and easy to maneuver, particularly thanks to the bow and stern thrusters. For the motorization, the Polish shipyard has teamed up with Torqeedo, equipping its boat with a Deep Blue motor with 55 kW of unbridled power, equivalent to 80 horsepower, in combination with one or two 40 kWh batteries, one being sufficient. Today, the development of electric propulsion also involves the installation of chargers, which is why Delphia is also working in collaboration with Aqua superPower, which is expected to equip canals, rivers and streams in the coming years.
The base price (including VAT) of the Delphia 10 is 165,120 euros, with the price of the model on display rising to 305,784 euros including VAT.
