Maximum motorization and ideal weather
End of the day, small chop, and a nice 12 knots breeze. The conditions are rather good to test the Cheetah Adventure 690 in the rocky channel. It must be said that the brand is known for the robustness of its boats and their very good marine behavior. Basically, they were designed for sea fishing in rough British waters.
For the test, our model is equipped with its strongest engine, namely two Suzuki outboard engines of 100 horsepower each. Two other powers are proposed by the shipyard, two times 80 hp and two times 90 hp. We are three people on board, the two tanks of 100 liters each are filled to 34%.
Healthy marine behavior
The Cheetah Adventure 690 handles the sea very well and is very sound in terms of seakeeping. Navigation remains comfortable, although it lacks some handrails to hold on to. It is also impossible to sit on the back seat, at the risk of ending up soaked, even with a good waxed coat. It is therefore behind the windshield in the wheelhouse that navigation is most comfortable. A leaning post will also make navigation more comfortable. The boat does not pitch, it turns flat and keeps its good seaworthiness, even at high speed.
Reduced consumption
On the performance side, our model reaches a speed of 20 knots in almost 8 seconds. Its cruising speed is between 13.3 knots with an engine speed of 3,500 rpm and a consumption of 9.20 liters/hour, and 16.9 knots at 4,000 rpm with a consumption of 11.70 liters/hour. At these speeds, the consumption is only 0.69 liters/mile, which with 200 liters tanks offers a range of nearly 290 miles.
It reaches its maximum speed of 28.2 knots at 6,000 rpm with a fuel consumption of 1.1 liter/hour. As we were assured by the shipyard, the Cheetah Adventure 690 combines good seaworthiness and low fuel consumption, thanks to its catamaran hull.
