A collaboration between two multihull players
Silent Yachts has developed in partnership with the Turkish shipyard Vision F-Yachts, a brand new catamaran model, the VisionF82. This 24-meter multihull is slightly longer than the Silent 80, but less wide, with more foredeck space incorporating an outdoor salon. The main deck saloon remains spacious with 54 m2 of living space and an outdoor dining area in the cockpit.
Aluminium construction
The VisionF 82 will be built in aluminum, a first for Silent Yachts.
"The aluminum construction grants a new level of flexibility in the layout. Various accommodation options are available, but the standard layout offers a large master suite of nearly 18 sq. m., as well as 3 adjoining guest cabins, one of which can also be used as an office space." explains Franz Boese, Marketing Manager at Silent-Yachts.
Solar panels to provide energy
The flybridge is equipped with a roof covered with solar panels, as on the other catamarans of the brand to provide energy stored later in Lithium-ion batteries of 160 kWh. The manufacturer says that the electrical energy generated is enough to power all the appliances on board. This should allow customers to enjoy the utmost silence, whether they are at anchor or in a marina.
A hybrid transmission and three engines
This new model will be equipped with a parallel hybrid transmission, although a fully electric version (like the rest of the range) will also be available. This system will offer 3 different engines: electric, hybrid or diesel.
In hybrid mode, the system will automatically select electric drive, diesel drive or a combination of both, depending on factors such as speed and battery condition. In power mode, the diesel engine and electric motor will be coupled to increase acceleration and speed.
This is the first hybrid model from Silent Yachts, their catamarans running only in electric version, although equipped with large fuel tanks, to power a generator.
"The SVF82 is our first hybrid model. However, a fully electric version is available. All our other models are fully electric. In addition, there is a backup generator on board that can recharge the batteries. It is only used occasionally (for example when you face long periods of bad weather or if you want to reach your destination faster). With the improvement of batteries and solar technology, the goal is to increase the pure electrical usage and gradually decrease the need for a backup generator." franz Boese explains.
Construction of the first model is expected to be completed by 2022; the VisionF 82 will be marketed by both shipyards.
