The 52nd edition of the Solitaire du Figaro ended this Thursday, September 16, 2021 with the victory of Pierre Quiroga (Skipper Macif 2019). This race will have been marked by big gaps between the first and the last and long stages mainly raced in the Channel.

This 52nd edition of the Solitaire du Figaro will have been marked by 4 long legs (in total more than 2,500 miles covered) which will have led the Figarists in the Bay of Biscay but mainly in the English Channel, and in particular to the Fastnet and Wales. If the time gaps between the first and the last are important, the winning trio largely deserves its victory. Pierre Quiroga (Skipper Macif 2019), Xavier Macaire (Groupe SNEF) and Tom Laperche (Team Bretagne CMB) largely dominated the fleet of this edition, posting speeds superior to all. Two years after the launch of the Bénéteau one-design hydrofoil boat, some of them are starting to know their boat inside out and are finding the right settings to accelerate.

After two stage victories - stages 2 and 3 - Pierre Quiroga won this edition of the Solitaire du Figaro. He finished the fourth and final leg in 10th position, with a lead of 48 minutes and 22 seconds over Xavier Macaire.

"There is so much going on in my head. For me, this is a historic victory, it will stay in my heart for a long time. It comes at the end of a fourth stage full of suspense. I had forbidden myself to look at Xavier's (Macaire) arrival time and to start a stopwatch. I just wanted to get there as quickly as possible. It's also the end of a wonderful story with the Skipper Macif project, and the farewell to my beautiful Figaro Bénéteau 3 n°37. It's obviously a lot of emotions that are intertwined, with an immense joy that will become more and more palpable in the hours and days to come. I'm still struggling to tell myself that I've won the Solitaire, it's incredible!"
