As the Figaro racers get ready to start the Solo Master Rooster 2020 the organiser of the Solitaire du Figaro has just confirmed the 2020 edition. This flagship event of the French Elite Ocean Racing Championship will be held at the end of the summer, starting from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. While the final format still needs to be adapted to the health constraints, the finish will be in Saint-Nazaire, in the Loire-Atlantique region, after an intermediate stopover in Dunkirk.
This is the fourth time that Saint-Nazaire has hosted the finish of the race and the city has also marked the history of the race. Indeed, in 2003, the duel had been fierce between Armel Le Cléac'h and Alain Gautier. After a month of fighting on the water, victory finally went to the former for just 13 seconds.
Although the start and finish cities are now known, the organisation will now work hard to ensure that the event takes place in the best possible conditions.

"There were times when we could have been discouraged, but we kept working, every moment, believing strongly in the possibility of organizing a race at the end of the summer, confirms Hervé Favre, President of OC Sport Pen Duick. Throughout this period of uncertainty, we have continued to hold regular discussions with all partners, concerned communities, sailors and institutions to ensure that the event is maintained and delivered at the level of ambition that can be expected from a race like this. Today, we are extremely proud to be able to confirm the organisation of this great classic. It is excellent news for the ocean racing ecosystem that this race, a major event on the Figaro Bénéteau class calendar, is taking place"
