Web series / Nomad Citizen Sailing, a young family sets sail for an alternative life

Marvin, Daniela and Baby Tara are nomadic citizen navigators. It is through their experience that they want to show that an alternative life is possible. By sharing it in video form, they will present their project of living as a homeless family while continuing to work.

Marvin, Daniela and their daughter Tara just cast off. They leave on their sailboat, a Océanis 473 just bought for this trip. And if the start date was indeed November 2019, the end date is totally unknown. Indeed, for this young couple, it is not a question of a break in a busy daily life, but of finding an alternative life.

Marvin is a former military sailor who created sports halls in the Montpellier area. He is originally from Brittany and Reunion Island. Daniela is Serbo-Croatian who came to France for her Erasmus and is now a dental surgeon. The sea, they don't have it in their blood. It wasn't until 2017 that they renovated a small Evasion 22 before they set sail in the summer from Palavas to Marseille with their dog. That's when they got the urge to live differently.

Nomad Citizen Sailing

For a year, they organized their professional life to be free to sail. And it is precisely this way of navigating and working that they want to promote today. To show that one can discover the world without cutting the bridges with one's previous life. With their little daughter Tara (18 months old at the start), they want to share their experience of life on board. In order to make this experience known to everyone (and especially to share it with family and friends), they decided to express themselves in English (subtitled in French).

This trip around the world will be a bit special. Because it's not a question of timing, the crew will take the time to find out. Thus this winter 2019-2020 will be spent in the south of Spain before moving up along the coast of Portugal. By the summer of 2020, the crew should be in Brittany. Marvin wanted to give his family the benefit of these beautiful stopovers. And what happens next? The door is open to all projects, even if some destinations are taking shape, such as Reunion Island, for a return to Marvin's roots.
