Karnic SL 800, the Cabin cruiser for family cruises that plays on modularity

The Karnic SL 800

The Karnic SL 800 is the largest outboard model from the Cypriot shipyard Karnic Boat - imported into France by Selva Marine - with an overall length of 9.20 m (7.98 m hull length). Its modular cockpit, large interior space and ease of travel on board offer many advantages for family cruises.

The Karnic SL 800 is a cabin cruiser with a total length of 9.20 m (7.98 m hull length) and an automotive design with false lateral air intakes at the rear and very large stylized hull glazing at the front. Its large volume above the waterline, however, damages the sporting aspect wanted by the yard, but offers the necessary space to accommodate 5 people to sleep.

A modular cockpit

But it is not the exterior design that surprises the SL 800, but the modularity it offers and the quantity of standard equipment it offers. For a boat less than 10 m long, the space offered is impressive and the ease of travel on board suffers. The freeboards are very high and therefore safe for a family with children, as is the cockpit door. Apart from the safety aspect, the freeboard height should allow you to stay dry while sailing.

On the aft side of the cockpit, the bench seat is fully adjustable. The space can be transformed into a dinette corner with a U-shaped saloon and a cockpit table, a large sunbathing area, a deck chair or a bench facing the sea. A floor rail system makes it easy to slide the seat blocks to change their layout. The leaning-post is equipped with a sink and stove as well as a removable cooler. The starboard side block serves both as a trunk and as a seat. A little high, it can nevertheless be used as a step to access the starboard side deck.

There are large storage compartments under the floor and large side pockets in the cockpit. A bimini is installed at anchor from the helm station to the stern of the cockpit.

A well protected helm station

Behind the leaning-post is the helm station, which is accessed via a cockpit step to port. There are two comfortable cockpit seats with lift seats and armrests that face a modern driving position well protected by a double-curved windshield with stainless steel handrails. The dashboard can accommodate a 12-inch display. Another special feature is that a removable co-pilot locker that can be used as a vanity for transporting personal belongings is located on the port side.

Two versions of the helm station layout are available. A first for the first time leaning-post weekender as on the exhibited version and a second one with swivel chairs . You can access it by typing the name of the port in the search engine, zooming in on the map of France or searching for ports according to many criteria such as the size of the boat or the presence of a slipway...

The bow - easily accessible via the protected gangways - receives a large sunbathing area that transforms into comfortable seats. A retractable bimini (optional) shades the relaxation area at anchor.

A really spacious interior

Inside, the site specifies that the cabin can accommodate up to 5 adults. The U-shaped dinette at the front turns into a very large berth (2.07 m x 1.80 m) and if you can accommodate 3 people thanks to a nice width, you can just sleep together to be comfortable.

The central cabin has a second double bed (2.03 m x1.35 m). Access is a little restricted with the descent, but the height is sufficient at head level to avoid the impression of being locked in. An optional refrigerator can be installed in the cab. Finally, a toilet / shower room completes the interior with a toilet, a sink and storage space.

A lot of standard equipment

The SL 800 receives 2 250 HP outboards from Selva, which according to the tests give it a cruising speed of 43 knots and a top speed of 48 knots. Two bath platforms with hidden folding ladder, as standard, frame the engine block.

In addition to the modularity offered by the SL 800, there are also the many design and finishing details that make it an ideal small cruise ship. There are many cup holders, handrails, plenty of storage, LED lights in the cockpit and cabin and even speakers installed throughout the cabin. In short, the SL 800 really seduced us with its modular layout and the space offered on board at the price of a slightly stocky design
