Special Edition / Actisense W2K-1, a Wifi gateway that records data!

By offering its 3-in-1 gateway, Actisense distributed by PST, offers the possibility to read the boat's data on a mobile while recording them to use them once ashore for detailed analysis.

Sharing the boat's data in wifi for reading on a tablet or smartphone is becoming more and more popular. Indeed, if a navigation system broadcasts the indications coming from the sensors on board (wind speed and direction, boat speed, depth, AIS...), a mobile phone can only give information from its internal GPS.

Even if the applications, especially mapping applications, are very complete, providing in addition the reading of the sensors on board directly on the mobile screen is a plus. The new Actisense W2K-1 box allows this. By simply connecting this box to the NMEA2000 network, all devices connected via Wi-Fi receive all on-board data.

NMEA2000/NMEA183 converter

But this type of Wifi gateway is not really new. Other devices that have been on the market for a few years also have this function. But the Actisense W2K-1 also offers two other functions. This box is also a NMEA2000 to NMEA 183 converter. Thus software that only reads NMEA 183 sentences will be compatible with this gateway

Finally, the Actisense W2K-1 also offers to record all the data of your sea outings on an internal memory chip. The saved data can then be reviewed later for detailed analysis. It will be possible to replay a regatta to watch the behaviour at the buoy, or even share this data with other users.

The capacity of the internal memory allows up to 16 days of data to be recorded, a capacity that can be increased at the factory if necessary.

Available in February 2019

With this recording function, the W2K-1 is particularly suitable for regatta monotypes that already have electronics on board and would also be interested in Wifi functions for navigating with a mobile phone. The recording will be a plus to replay the regatta day and progress with a detailed analysis.

All Actisense products are imported into France by PST, which provides commercial and technical assistance, as well as dealer training. PST can rely on its recently launched new website www.pstfrance.com to provide as much data as possible to its customers.

The Actisense W2K-1 has been available since May 2019 at a price of approximately 280 euros.
