The IC-M25EURO EVO VHF has been designed to meet the needs of passenger boats, support tenders, coastal cruisers and RIBs used for port departure. Weighing just 220 grams, it can be easily stored in a pocket or clipped onto a harness.
Its IPX7 waterproof body enables it to withstand temporary immersion down to one meter for thirty minutes. Its active buoyancy with audible alarm and light signal (Float'n Flash technology) enables immediate location in the event of a fall into the sea.
Ergonomics designed for ease of use during navigation
Users appreciate the legibility of its large LCD display and the logical layout of the keys, including the activation of the Key Lock function which prevents accidental channel changes in a crowded cockpit. The keys are backlit, as is the display, for use at night or in low-visibility conditions.
The grip has been redesigned on the EVO version, with a non-slip grip and enlarged buttons, particularly those for channel selection. This improvement is particularly beneficial for use with gloves or in rough sea conditions.
USB-C on board: an evolution consistent with current uses
The adoption of the USB-C connector on the M25EURO EVO makes it easy to recharge with equipment already on board: smartphone chargers, power banks, portable solar panels. The radio can be fully recharged in around 3 hours, and its compatibility with third-party power supplies limits the risk of battery life interruption.
The automatic power switchover option (from 5W to 2.5W in eco mode) helps extend operating time by up to 14 hours, depending on usage conditions.
On-board audible signaling and fault detection
A notable development is the integration of an audible alarm in the event of water intrusion or abnormal temperature. The M25EURO EVO signals any malfunction with an audible beep, a function that can be deactivated without software reprogramming. Water ejection by infrasound via the AquaQuake function prevents audio obstruction after immersion.
A price positioning consistent with the equipment supplied
Priced at around ?220 incl. VAT (2025 price list), the IC-M25EURO EVO VHF is in an affordable price range for occasional leisure or professional use. This model also meets French requirements for sailing more than 60 miles from a shelter (carrying a waterproof portable VHF in addition to a fixed VHF). The price includes antenna, 1,500 mAh lithium-ion battery, USB-C/USB-A charging cable and belt clip. At this price level, few competing models offer IPX7 waterproofing, fourteen hours of battery life, active buoyancy and compatibility with accessories such as the HM-213 waterproof micro-speaker.
