Icom IC-M430E: GPS, ASN, and NMEA 2000 in a 20-cm case

Icom is expanding its line of fixed VHF radios with the IC-M430E, a compact model equipped with Class D DSC and a GPS receiver. Its NMEA 2000 interface makes it easy to integrate into the boat?s electronic systems. A remote control unit also allows for operation from the cockpit. This is sure to appeal to boaters looking to upgrade their radio system.

Icom introduces the IC-M430E, a new 25-watt fixed marine VHF radio designed for sailboats and motorboats. Measuring 202 × 82 × 52.6 mm, it can be installed in a helm console or on the chart table. It has the same mounting dimensions as the IC-M423G, which can make it easier to replace an older radio.

A built-in GPS for emergency calls

The IC-M430E features Class D DSC, with a dedicated receiver for monitoring Channel 70. Its built-in GNSS receiver allows geographic coordinates to be associated with distress alerts, provided the radio is properly configured and has been assigned an MMSI number. Icom also provides an UX-241 external GPS antenna, which is useful when the radio?s location limits satellite reception.

A VHF radio connected to the onboard electronics

Thanks to its NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 interfaces, the radio can exchange data with compatible instruments. It also features digital noise reduction for both transmission and reception, with Icom claiming a reduction of up to 20 dB. Its front panel is IPX7-rated, while the AquaQuake feature helps drain water from the speaker.

A remote control for the cockpit

The IC-M430E is compatible with the optional HM-195GB remote microphone, which allows the radio to be operated from a second location, such as the cockpit. Megaphone and foghorn functions are also available with the appropriate accessories.

Listed at ?579.26 (including tax) Manufactured by Icom France (2026 model), this VHF radio is designed specifically for recreational boaters who want to upgrade their radio system without adding more equipment on board.
