The Fjord shipyard launched its first model with a wheelhouse at the Autumn shows. An evolution for the regular Opener, and a clear choice to expand the market, as Pierre Duchein, the brand's French representative, explains to us.

Can you remind us of the concept developed by Fjord??

We created this open market of more than 10 m by working with the architect of the Wally tender, a pioneer. They are cabin cruisers, but the owners do not use the cabins. They are called "twelve hours boats", i.e. boats for the day, where the cabin is used only for a nap.

Why launch a Coupé? version?

To expand the catchment area and the market. Fjord 44 Coupé is a "setting trends" (NDRL: new trend). We walk on the flower beds of the cabin cruiser. We wanted to do something else by proposing a superstructure on an open hull. The concept is a little radical, like it or not.

We want to offer a complementary offer, an innovative concept.

For which market is Fjord 44 Coupé? destined?

In Northern Europe, but also in very hot countries such as Dubai, for example, because the wheelhouse can be air-conditioned. It will also be possible to sell them in the Mediterranean also with the sliding doors on the rear, the sliding roof and the side doors.

For which cible??

We are addressing owners of larger boats, worth from 1 to 1.5 million euros, who are looking for a boat that is easier to use and maintain.

For which utilisation??

We are still in the open market, but offer a compromise with 2 cabins. On Fjord 40, there was only one bed. We keep the same services as on the other models, namely a deck-lounge, on the same level, with a 360° clear view. Fjord 44 can also be used as a chase tender or limo tender.
