After the Northwest Passage in September 2017, the adventurous sailor Yvan Bourgnon is embarking on a new adventure. The Mediterranean Record from Marseille to Carthage (Tunisia) on a nacra F20 hydrofoil sports catamaran with his son Mathis Bourgnon. Start of stand-by on June 15, 2018. Record to be beaten ? 1 day 18 hours and 58 minutes and 19 seconds.

Yvan Bourgnon is taking on a new challenge at the beginning of June 2018. Aboard a sports catamaran - a nacra F20 equipped with foils - the navigator wants to beat the Mediterranean record. A course of 455 nautical miles between Marseille and Carthage (in Tunisia) completed in less than 1 day 18 hours and 58 minutes and 19 seconds, the current reference time, achieved in August 2017 by Vittorio Malingri and Nico Malingri. This will not be the first time that Yvan will attempt this record, as he had already set a reference time of 2 days 4 hours and 53 minutes in September 2010, when he was accompanied by Jérémie Lagarrigue. This time, it will be with his son, Mathis Bourgnon, that he will try to set a new record.

Father and son will set off from the Caveau Lighthouse south of the island of Pomègues, follow the west coast of Corsica, then the coast of Sardinia, and then head east towards the bay of Tunis and Cape Carthage, before crossing the official line at the Ras Quartajamah Lighthouse.

The two men will sail this course on a 6.20 m long all-carbon sports catamaran equipped with curved foils. Stand-by will start on June 15, 2018 with a window until September 15.
