Macif Centre de Voile offers a wide range of sailing training courses. From the discovery stage to that of skipper, the training is provided by level and above all thanks to practice. The objective? Be autonomous to be able to cruise in complete safety. In addition, thematic courses focus on very specific skills. Something to learn all practices, whether sailing or motor.

Progressive courses to sail independently

The objective of the Macif is to provide training by level, from the discovery course to that of skipper. The purpose? Sailing independently on your own boat or through rental. And to help you obtain the role of skipper, the Macif has developed a training system by level: initiation, performance, mastery, watch leader and skipper. You can also take a mixed course, which allows you to mix trainees of different levels to benefit from a synergy of skills.

With a master's level, you will get a crew role, while the watch leader internship will allow you to occupy the role of second on board, sufficient level to rent a boat. Finally, as skipper, you will be able to sail independently and safely for your crew, on your own sailboat.

The courses take place in navigation, whatever the weather! Because the best way to train is to practice. So don't expect to stay in port because it's going to rain all day, put on your boots and your oilskin instead! The courses last several days (from 2 to 13 days) and mix theoretical and practical courses even if most of the time is spent sailing

For those who would like to discover sailing, there is also a 3-day course called"Discovery" to better understand the sea in a cruising school and take stock of his knowledge.

Learning and Reviewing

At each level its learning. Thus, in initiation, we will discover the boat, the different speeds, the sail changes, the tides or the tacking and gybing... The advanced level allows us to become even more familiar with the different helm techniques and finer sail adjustments. We also learn how to use safety equipment, how to carry out different anchoring techniques..

The mastery level concerns, among other things, on-board electronics, spinnaker and port techniques. The watch leader level is used to learn how to manage what is happening on deck (crew, manoeuvres, emergency situations) and under deck, at the chart table (navigation coordination, etc.). Finally, the last level, that of skipper, takes place in a mid-shore way with night sailing and in autonomy to organise and manage a cruise.

At each level, we return to elements learned previously, which always allows us to continue training, even on the most obvious learning.

Theme courses

In addition to these sailing training courses, the Macif Sailing Centre offers thematic courses, which allow you to train (or review) a particular skill. During these training courses, 60% of the time is reserved for the specialty, while the rest of the time is devoted to reviewing manoeuvres.

They can choose to be trained at sea (port manoeuvres, sailing alone, in duet, CRR...) or on land (weather or maintenance).

Other specific training courses are offered by Macif such as :

  • The safety/survival training This practical training is designed to make boaters aware of the dangers of boating and, above all, to teach them how to react and act in the event of difficulties.
  • The certificate World Sailing which all professional skippers and amateurs participating in ocean racing events must pass.
  • The regattas which allow to learn all the techniques in race with the Macif trainers
