Windelo offers two new versions of its 51 and 55 models, called Sport. These optimized versions will appeal to sailors looking for enhanced performance under sail. An optimized hull for greater speed
The Windelo 51 and 55 Sport feature a revised hull design, with tauter lines and inverted bows reaching 17°. This modification lengthens the waterline and improves water penetration, reducing drag and increasing speed potential.
The daggerboards have been redesigned and lengthened by 65 cm to improve lift and upwind performance. Likewise, the balanced rudders have been lengthened to offer improved helm sensitivity. These elements, made of carbon fiber, guarantee increased rigidity while reducing the boat's overall weight.
A racing rig to maximize power
Sport versions benefit from a carbon mast one meter longer, combined with Kevlar shrouds, for a 15% weight reduction on the upper sections and increased sail area. The traditional aluminum bowsprit is replaced by a stiffer, lighter carbon crossbeam, lengthened by 30 cm, offering 20% more sail area for downwind sails.
The fittings have also been redesigned, with performance-oriented equipment such as high-quality pulleys mounted on Dyneema transfilage. The set of sails benefits from 3D membrane technology, derived from ocean racing, to guarantee better handling and durability. Finally, the self-tacking solent has been replaced by a conventional trimming system, allowing the optional addition of a releasable forestay with staysail.
A lighter structure for enhanced performance
The interior of the Windelo 51 and 55 Sport has been redesigned to combine technical sophistication and lightness. The use of technical composite materials, such as exposed basalt fiber and carbon wheels, reinforces the sporty identity of these models.
The structural bulkheads are made entirely of carbon fiber, saving over 500 kg compared to the standard Windelo 50 and 54 versions. This weight reduction, combined with the structural improvements, enables the boat to withstand stresses better, while optimizing performance under sail.
