Iguana Yachts adds a cabin to its amphibious boats with the Commuter

Iguana Switch

The Iguana Yachts shipyard based in Caen launched in 2011 the Iguana 29, an amphibious dayboat, capable of "rolling" on land thanks to large tracks. Now, a new model has joined the range, the Commuter, a 31-foot (9.2 m) model equipped with a cabin and a retractable hard-top, both of which are new to the range. The Commuter will be presented in Cannes in September 2018, then at the Monaco Yacht Show.

The French shipyard Iguana Yachts, known for its amphibious boats equipped with tracks, presents the Iguana Commuter. This new model stands out from the other versions by its closed cockpit and cabin, a request from the brand's customers. This new daycruiser - available with two deck layouts - is suitable both for day trips, with the possibility of easy day trips thanks to its retractable tracks, and also serves as a superyacht tender. The first unit sold will be used for the M/Y Spectre, and has been fitted with a removable roof and windscreen for easy access to the garage.

A retractable hard-top

The Commuter is equipped with an electrically height-adjustable hard-top. In its high version, it protects the cockpit and part of the cockpit. In slightly rougher sea conditions, in the lowered position, it closes the cockpit forward, protecting the cockpit from sea spray. Finally, still in this "Limousine" version, it can be easily stored in any superyacht garage. Easy to adjust from the touch screen on the helm station.

More comfort on board

At the request of current owners of Iguana Yachts, the shipyard has decided to add to its Commuter version a cabin with a U-shaped bench seat and the possibility of sleeping 2 people at the bow. There is also a toilet and plenty of storage space under the benches. The objective is to increase the sailing time on board. A cabin with "exclusive" finishes with an electric lock, leather finish and subdued lights.

Two versions of cockpit layout

The Commuter will be offered with two different deck layouts: Commuter Limo and Commuter Sport.

In the first version, the Iguana Commuter is fitted with 6 shock absorbing seats. In the 2" version, these two shock-absorbing seats are kept at cockpit level. The rear of the cockpit is fitted with a U-shaped bench seat with a self-supporting sliding backrest for the front seat. Thus, one can choose a position facing the cockpit or a position facing the sea and have a large saloon at one's disposal. There is also a refrigerator under the bench seat.

On-board technology

The Iguana Commuter has new features such as the electric anchor with automatic depth measurement to deploy the right length of chain. The boarding ladder is also electric and can be controlled from the console's touch screen to ensure safe boarding and disembarkation of passengers.

Also from this touch screen, the owner can adjust the brightness, activate the tracks, check the engine, etc.

Among other equipment, the Commuter has a GPS with depth sounder, underwater cameras and an audio system.

Unchanged performance

Despite the addition of a removable hard-top and a cabin, the yard ensures unchanged navigation performance. The V-shaped hull and straight bow and the sleek lines characteristic of the brand can be seen. The hull is built in carbon fibre and ensures a smooth and stable passage at sea. With a cruising speed of 30 knots, the Commuter has a range of 100 miles. Its top speed reaches 45 knots.

Limo Version

The Commuter comes standard with 350 hp outboard, but two other options are available: 400 hp (11,380 euros) or 2x200 hp (28,000 euros).

Each model - Limo and Sport - is available in two different finishes: Classic or Exclusive and sold at the price of 598,000 euros HT (Classic version) and 649,000 euros HT (Exclusive version).
