The "Picchio Boat" concept was born from the meeting of designer Christian Grande and Pierfrancesco Favino, a popular Italian actor. The latter wanted a boat based on the values of family life, respect for nature and the praise of slowness. The idea is to take possession of the space and time to enjoy the journey, the navigation and the environment.
The designer has therefore created a new stylish boat with many technical solutions, dedicated to a calm and contemplative lifestyle. He chose a 21-meter catamaran capable of sailing for long hours in total comfort to enjoy the surrounding nature in complete privacy.
The exterior design of the boat celebrates the natural world, adapting it to navigation and life on board. The shaping of the exterior surfaces clearly reflects this strict connection with nature: the cockpit floor, for example, is made with transverse wooden planks, bent into curves on both sides to give space for stairs.
Both the lines and the materials used have been designed to be soft, as have the pastel colors and glass walls that separate the saloon from the aft cockpit. On either side, there are vertical gardens that frame the dining area and separate it from the lounge area. On the starboard side, there is a hammock that benefits from the peacefulness of the area, thanks to the green plants. This space reflects the concept of clarity and well-being on board. Here, the idea was to represent dunes thanks to the color of the teak planks, recalling the sand, and the curves recalling the dunes.
An aft deck, bounded by glass walls, contains large cushions and armchairs, creating a real gazebo on the sea. A similar space is found on the flybridge with a lounge area and a sunbathing area with mattresses on the front balcony, behind the cockpit.
The interior is a generous space dedicated to relaxation. Starting with the central lounge, furnished with a bar and a very large sofa, a dining area, and a curious underwater observatory: an ice platform integrated and coplanar in the floor, and overlooking the central tunnel, between the two hulls of the catamaran. This gives a suggestive vision of the depths of the sea and its inhabitants, enhanced at night by specially designed underwater projectors.
From the salon (main deck) to the lower deck, all the usable spaces of the catamaran have been used. There are two spacious VIP cabins with private bathrooms. There is also the galley and a children's room with folding bunks and a sofa, giving them a real generous playground.
The steering area, with another comfortable sofa, leads to the owner's cabin, equipped with a glass floor, under the bed, which gives the impression of floating above the illuminated water. There is also a large closet, a dressing table, and a large private bathroom with double sinks, shower, whirlpool tub and separate toilet.
The nature, desires and wishes of the owner are fully expressed in the final product. Indeed, the whole boat, despite its generous dimensions, is discreet and soft, cosy and respectful of the natural environment, thanks to its hybrid propulsion.
The colors are also soft and in line with nature: bronze, metallic champagne and mocha, borrowed from the cliffs, bays and coves of the Mediterranean (Chritian Grandin is used to designing boats that pay tribute to the most beautiful marine places).
