Lagoon 43: Innovative details for the successor to a best-selling catamaran

Lagoon Catamarans has unveiled details of the future Lagoon 43. This multihull, which has the difficult task of succeeding the best-selling 42-footer in the history of the cruising catamaran, relies on design tricks to offer even greater comfort, but at the same price.

A generous catamaran

The world's leading manufacturer of catamaran cruisers announces the arrival of the Lagoon 43 at the end of 2024. This multihull, the successor to the range's best-seller, the Lagoon 42, will be anything but revolutionary. Brand regulars will find the silhouette and elements familiar to the builder. However, Lagoon intends to offer, as it claims, "an even more generous catamaran" .

The new yacht will be able to accommodate an even larger crew, whether on deck, with a sliding door system that opens wide to link the inner saloon and outer cockpit tables into a single one for a table of 12. In this way, Lagoon joins the increasingly open trend towards making the saloon and cockpit a single space.

The 12 crew members can also sleep on board. In fact, Lagoon offers pullman beds as an optional extra, these bunk beds, similar to sleeper trains, complete the 4 double cabins available on board.

In the owner's configuration, Lagoon offers for the first time a reversal of the traditional layout. The owner's cabin joins the forepeak, with an XXL bathroom aft. This solution, already seen in a number of niche builders at the multihull boat show, is coupled here with larger hulls to guarantee the same level of comfort "generosity to the forward and aft cabins. The manufacturer's aim is to reduce engine and crew noise in the cockpit, as well as improve ventilation.

Access to the sea and the quay

Another innovation, visible from the moment you step aboard, is a companionway door on each side to facilitate access when the catamaran is moored parallel to the quay. Only a glazed top door is provided, with the bottom door remaining open for greater connection to the sea. In this way, Lagoon combines the bulwark openings found on its competitor Windelo, with the gangway doors found on some larger units, such as HH Catamarans.

The dinghy-lifting hoop, already used on previous models, has been extended to include a small platform with a trampoline for cushions and to create a "play area" "beach club above the water, rather attractive.

Containing prices

While boat prices have risen sharply since 2021, Lagoon is pleased to offer its 43-footer at the same price as the outgoing Lagoon 42. The Lagoon 43 will be available from ?518,700 in 3 cabins and ?529,000 in 4 cabins. Presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024, the catamaran will go into series production from the end of 2024.

To keep the range competitive and satisfy Lagoon 42 nostalgia fans, a Millenium edition will still be offered in 4 cabins only, ready to sail, in a single configuration, at ?499,000.
