What strategy for Lagoon powered catamarans?

The two new Lagoon power catamarans were designed with the VPLP architectural firm. Prioritizing comfort and safety, Lagoon had to choose between life on board and speed. Explanation with VPLP.

Lagoon made its return to the large motor yacht market with the launch of the 630 Motor Yacht last September at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Inspired by the Lagoon 620, the brand's largest sailing catamaran, of which more than 70 units have been delivered, the 630 MY is dedicated to coastal cruising, but also to long-distance voyages, thanks to its seaworthy qualities and its great autonomy.

Today, the International Multihull Exhibition is the opportunity for the brand to present its second model, the 40 MY, the little brother of the 630 Motor Yacht. Its key word? "Simplicity". This is how Lagoon wanted it. The 40 MY is therefore simple to use, simple to maneuver and above all simple to maintain. Thanks to its layout combining volume, comfort and elegance, as well as its sunbathing area and protected cockpit at the helm, the 40 MY will delight sailors looking for coastal cruising or family cruising.

This new range of motor yachts is inspired by the hulls with marine qualities, already tested by Lagoon, bringing comfort, autonomy and safety. Lagoon has sought to create safe and easy to use boats, in order to bring the greatest comfort to its owners.

Comfortable boats for a pleasant navigation

Having worked with VPLP on the design of its powerboats, Lagoon has sought to reconcile the pleasure of sailing with speed. 85% of boaters use a boat and a motor and very often, motorization is associated with speed. Unlike sailing, which connotes a notion of sailing pleasure. " Those who sail from point A to point B usually enjoy getting to point B and of course once there. It is often considered that motorboats must be very fast, as if what is important is to get to B as quickly as possible, even if it means that the crew has to make the trip in discomfort due to noise and vibrations. Why this generalization?" explains VPLP.

With a multihull, the yachtsman is above all looking for space, stability, but also performance. And performance means speed or autonomy or a balance between the two. This is what Lagoon has opted for by privileging comfort and quality of navigation. With a speed of 17 knots, Lagoon's power catamarans " offer the possibility of this quality of time in a comfortable and harmonious setting, both at sea and at anchor. We preferred to address those who prefer the quality of time to speed" summarizes VPLP.
