Port Chantereyne is Cherbourg's marina, built in 1975. Expansion work was carried out in 1992 and it obtained the Blue Flag label in 2002. Today, it is considered the most important marina in the English Channel.

The Port Chantereyne has 1550 places on 30 pontoons. 1300 places are dedicated to annual rental and 250 are reserved for seasonal rental. In 2014, the port recorded nearly 6000 passages for a total of 16 000 nights.

The allocation of places is as follows:

  • Port Chantereyne 19 pontoons and 1248 places
  • Trade basin 3 pontoons and 33 places
  • Pre-port concession 8 pontoons and 254 places
  • Port de l'Épi 19 places reserved for traditional sailing boats

An extension project is planned to accommodate 600 additional boats, 400 in the water and 200 in the dry.

Access to Port Chantereyne

The port of Chantereyne is located on the largest artificial harbour in Europe and is open 24 hours a day. Boats up to 25 metres long and with a draught of 3 metres can moor here.

Distribution of pontoons

  • K west : vessels less than 9 m
  • N and P : vessels up to 12 m
  • Q west : vessels up to 14 m
  • Q is along the pontoon: ships from 14 m
  • H north along the pontoon: vessels from 14 m
  • J along the pontoon: vessels up to 25 m. (Contact the port office for any use)
  • Standby pontoon without connection to land: vessels up to 25 m

The port office

Port Chantereyne carries out every year improvements of its infrastructures, this is how the port office was totally renovated and opened its doors to the public last April. Boaters are now welcomed in a spacious hall and have at their disposal modern showers and a new washing-up area.

The port has obtained the Blue Flag label and is part of an environmental approach for the management of the environment, waste and the site. Many services are offered to pleasure boaters to limit their impact: recovery of fairing water, used oil, grey and black water recovery station, selective waste sorting..

The equipment

  • Fuel available 24 hours a day 2 diesel pumps + 1 lead-free pump 98 near the port office. They are accessible 24 hours a day with a payment by credit card, capped at 120 ? or a prepayment at the port office, during opening hours.
  • Access to the network WiFi complimentary
  • Sanitary 16 toilets and 24 showers spread over 5 sites (2 shower & toilet blocks - 3 toilet blocks). Within the harbour master's office, access to the showers is free for clients of the port, paying their parking fee, and paying for non-clients: 2 ? for 1 shower. The other showers are located on the Bassin du Commerce. In both cases, access is 24 hours a day through a code door.
  • Weather Weather reports are posted every morning at the port office (off season) and morning and evening (season period). The weather module is updated 4 times a day. A station is located on the roof of the harbourmaster's office and provides real-time weather information for the race course.
  • Lifting Elevator with a maximum load of 30 t, open access 600 kg mast and mobile cranes accessible on request.
  • Launching The launch hold is located near the nautical base and at the Radoub.
  • Equipment The main features are: fairing area, dry dock, water and waste oil pumping system, drinking water on pontoons, electricity on docks (220 V/16A) and on pontoons (220 V/6-10-16 A), storage area for lockers.
  • Selective sorting of waste Glass containers, yellow and blue bins, black and grey water pumps, oil collectors, batteries, used batteries, used sails, empty paint cans and soiled cloths.

Rates

The visitor rate per day varies according to the season and the boat. In low season (1 er january to 30 April 2015), the price starts at ?6.1 for boats under 5 metres and rises to ?64.7 for boats over 25 metres. In high season (1 er may to 30 September 2015), the rate varies between 10.5 and 85.9 ?.
