Jet Skiing in the Powell Lake Canyons

Pedalo or kayak, they chose jet skiing to visit the canyons of Lake Powell in Utah... at high speed.

Formed by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam on Colorado, this huge artificial lake (the second largest in the country) can reach 300 km long at its highest level and has 3136 km of shoreline, more than the entire west coast of the country. There are no less than 96 canyons with ochre and red rocks. The waters of Lake Powell are very clear and can reach a depth of 170 metres. The lake has become a popular recreational area

Lake Powell began filling in March 1963. Because of upstream and downstream water needs, skeptics thought it would never fill. Yet in 1980, 17 years later, it was full. Necessary measures even had to be taken to prevent the lake from overflowing from the dam in 1983 and 1984. This maximum level left a white mark on all the rock walls, which the inhabitants of the region call"the mark of the bathtub".
