Surf spotlight - Crozon La Palue (29)

Facing the Atlantic full west, the page of La Palue is considered as one of the spots impossible to circumvent of the point Brittany.

Located at the tip of Finistère, on the Crozon peninsula in a setting of nature, dunes, cliffs and heather, the spot of La Palue is difficult to access. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots on the Breton coast. It is both wild and beautifully preserved, relatively little visited, opening both on the tip of Van to the south, on the Tas de Pois to the north and Guénéron Island.

To get there, take the Cap de la Chèvre road from Morgat. After having passed several hamlets of pen-ty, at the end of a dirt road which goes down on several hundreds of meters, the beach is discovered 2 km long. It is not for nothing that this spot is the appointment of many competitions of surfing, kite, wind or kayak.

Other neighbouring beaches share the swell, but are perhaps a little more protected like Goulien, Kersiguenou, Pen Hat or Kerloc'h. Lostmarc'h beach is closed to swimmers. Spot of waves, there are waves all the time, in all weathers Discover the spot in photo.

La Palue is a spot of waves par excellence, there are almost all the time waves.

They are waves of sand with peaks that move with the tides. Facing due west, the beach accepts swells from north to south via the west. Quite hollow, especially in an easterly wind, the waves roll correctly up to 300 m and even manage to tube. Many currents between the bay make the spot difficult, especially at mid-tide where you could very easily be swept away by the current. The best time to enjoy it? Early in the morning, at the end of the rising tide and during high tides.

The area, often windy, offers ideal conditions for fun and kitesurfing. Nevertheless, it is probably not recommended for beginners. Wind north: starboard side / and wind south to southeast port side.

Several schools share the waves of La Palue. Absolute Surfschool, created in 1998, is the first surf school in Crozon-Morgat. Absolute Surfschool is labelled Ecole Française de Surf and has been part of the Ecole de Surf de Bretagne network since its creation. The Crozon-Morgat Nautical Centre offers training courses from the age of 10.

La Palue is also a competition spot. Since 2007 it has hosted the Hibiscus Party organised at the end of December, an event where each day, depending on the conditions, one of the three disciplines of windsurfing, surfing and SUP is chosen. Other more occasional events such as the French Wave-Ski Cup are organised there.
