45th edition of the Solitaire du Figaro
The Solitaire du Figaro âeuros Eric Bombard Cachemire is a one-design, unassisted, time trial race that is contested in stages. During each stage, the skippers compete in a race to achieve the best time and accumulate points to determine the winner of the French Single-handed Offshore Racing Championships. Until July 6, the skippers will compete in four stages:
Step 1 deauville âeuros Plymouth from June 8 to 10 or 11 âeuros 484 nautical miles (893 kms)
Step 2 : Plymouth âeuros Roscoff via the Fasnet from June 14 to 17 or 18 âeuros 535 nautical miles (983 kms)
Step 3 roscoff âeuros Les Sables d'Olonne from June 22 to 24 or 25 âeuros 505 nautical miles (926 kms)
Step 4 les Sables d'Olonne âeuros Cherbourg Octeville from July 29th to 1st or 2nd âeuros 490 nautical miles (900 kms)
This 2,014-mile (3,702 km) course will bring together 38 skippers who will race solo between the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean in four legs aboard an identical boat, a 10.10 m Figaro Bénéteau 2. Between each race, the participants will have three to four days of rest depending on their cruising speed.
Many experienced sailors will be there, including Yann Eliès, winner of the two previous editions, as well as Jérémie Beyou, winner of the 2005 and 2011 editions.
