With a claimed top speed of 40 knots, the Zeelander 5 falls into the category of fast motor yachts. This level of performance is suited to a sailing itinerary consisting of short or medium-range crossings, with the ability to visit several anchorages in a single day.

In the Mediterranean, this choice makes it possible, in particular, to reduce the time spent between two stops. The owner can leave a port in the morning, head to a remote cove for lunch, and then move to a different area before nightfall. And when the mistral or meltem picks up, having some speed to spare helps adjust the itinerary?provided you maintain a safety margin and monitor fuel consumption.

The shipyard does not specify the installed power, range, or fuel tank capacity. It is therefore impossible to estimate the distance the yacht can travel at cruising speed or at full throttle. Yet this data is essential for assessing the practical use of a 40-knot yacht. The top speed provides an indication of the hull?s potential, but it does not fully capture the boat?s seakeeping qualities.

The Volvo IPS propulsion system makes unmanned maneuvering easier
The Zeelander 5 is equipped with a Volvo IPS propulsion system combined with joystick control. This design directly addresses the owner?s desire to sail without a permanent crew.

The joystick simplifies docking maneuvers by combining the thrust of the swivel mounts. The pilot can move the boat sideways, correct its angle, or maintain its position with fewer adjustments to the throttle and steering. The ceiling features multiple light fixtures inspired by the star-patterned light panels found in some automobiles. Extensive customization, with maintenance requirements
The hull is painted in a bronze-gray metallic finish called Light Gazelle. It was chosen to match the owner?s cars and plane. This finish gives the boat a distinct visual identity, but it will require rigorous maintenance to preserve its uniform appearance.
Metallic paints tend to highlight scratches, touch-ups, and certain variations in shade.
