4 configurations: how the Wellcraft 28 adapts to your sailing schedule

With the 28-foot, Wellcraft offers 3 models built on identical hulls. Explorer, T-Top and Speedster feature the same hull layout, depending on the program chosen. 4 cockpit configurations then transform each boat according to use.

Wellcraft has opted for a modular approach for its new 28-foot models. 3 âeuros Speedster, T-Top and Explorer âeuros are based on a single carène designed with the Finnish design office Navia. This common base is complemented by 4 rear cockpit layouts, enabling the unit to be adapted to cruising, fishing, lounging or even overnighting.

A common hull

The Wellcraft 28's waterline was developed in collaboration with Navia, a specialist in step hulls. These step hulls promote rapid planing, high top speed and better fuel economy.

  • Visit Speedster is designed for sports outings, with a clear deck.

  • Visit T-Top features a central shelter and maintains a walkaround flow.

  • L' Explore adds an enclosed wheelhouse, suitable for long-distance sailing or areas with changing weather conditions.

Four cockpit layouts for a variety of uses

Beyond the hull, the cockpit becomes the key element of customization. Wellcraft offers four interchangeable versions:

  • Lounge standard layout, accommodating up to thirteen passengers, nine of whom are seated facing forward for safety when sailing fast.
  • Barracuda the new, fully-featured, fishing boat with livewell, rod holders, bait storage and flip-up benches.
  • Relax the new, farniente-focused design features a large sunbathing area, storage lockers and additional seating.
  • Sleeper explorer: reserved for the Explorer, it includes two berths and an outdoor area for extended cruising.

This modularity allows the same boat to be adapted to several programs without modifying its basic structure.

Combined infusion and injection molding

The site uses the W.I.S.E. (Wellcraft Infujection Structure Engineering) . This process combines infusion and injection to mold hull and structure in a single piece. The aim is to obtain a more rigid and lighter unit, with an optimized weight/power ratio.

For owners, this means :

  • greater robustness over time,
  • a reduction in overall weight,
  • limited environmental impact thanks to more precise use of resins.

Performance and behavior at sea

With one or two outboards, the Wellcraft 28 can exceed 50 knots. Step hulls improve passage through rough seas and reduce spray on board. Stability is enhanced, even at high speeds.

This technical choice meets the needs of both sporty pilots and sailors looking for comfort and safety during fast cruising.

Safety and traffic on board

Models feature high freeboards, oversized handrails and a coupe door for safe maneuvering. The flush walkaround makes traffic flow more easily, while the T-Top offers two windshield versions (high or sport) to tailor protection.

The whole package is certified to European and North American standards, placing these units in a segment of coastal cruisers accessible in several navigation zones.
