A direct replacement for the Quicksilver 675 Open, the 705 Open is designed to appeal to yachtsmen looking for a well-designed, affordable dayboat. Revamped in several respects, this model boasts advanced modularity, a refined hull and decent performance, especially as we tested it with its 225 hp V6 max engine.

A boat designed for coastal cruising and water sports

The Quicksilver 705 Open is positioned between the 675 Open and the 805 Open, from which it takes many aesthetic and functional elements. It measures 7.16 meters overall with a hull of 6.45 meters. This model follows in the footsteps of family open boats, with a central console, and is positioned opposite units such as the Leader 6.5 CC.

With a capacity of eight people in category C, it is aimed at families, occasional fishermen and water sports enthusiasts looking for a stable, safe and easy-to-access boat, at a contained price for its size.

A convertible cockpit and well-thought-out modularity

The living space on board has been designed to maximize use, from sailing to anchoring. At the stern, the U-shaped bench and swivel seats create a convivial saloon. The cockpit features a picnic table that can be easily stored in the console. In addition to numerous storage compartments, notably under the bench seats and in the bathing platforms, there is plenty of room for equipment.

The model is offered with a Smart Edition package including electric windlass, ski mast, stereo, shower and bow sundeck. Other finishing options include Flexiteek upholstery, Simrad 7" or 9" GPS, and a T-top with rod holders.

Healthy, lively handling with maximum power

Our test of the Quicksilver 705 Open with a 225 hp engine revealed a high-performance hull, with a pronounced V at the bow and pronounced strakes. The boat shows good stability at cruising speed (25 knots at 3,500 rpm), smooth passage through chop and a constant trajectory even when the steering wheel is released.

We easily reached a top speed of 42 knots (on flat seas). While the V7 engine consumes 71 l/h, at cruising speed it "makes do" with 25 l/h. With Activ'Trim on (automatic trim adjustment), steering becomes really easy and can be entrusted without risk. Electric controls (engine + helm) are also there for the pilot's comfort.

A competitive price/performance ratio

Priced from ?47,030 with a Mercury 150 (2025 prices), the Quicksilver 705 Open is competitive. The 225 hp V6 version (tested) starts at ?55,410. Options such as the T-top (?55,500) or the Flexi Tech deck (?3,980) add to the price, but give this Open a very special cachet.
Direct competitors such as the Jeanneau Leader 6.5 CC or the Beneteau Flyer 7.7 SUNdeck command slightly higher prices for equivalent engines.

The model stands out for its ease of on-board access, its well-thought-out standard equipment and its ability to be fitted with a variety of engines. It is aimed at a pragmatic public, sensitive to the overall ownership budget (purchase, insurance, consumption), but also to the equipment supplied as standard.
