A speedboat to explore the world
With the 495 Flybridge, Nimbus has entered the Explorer boat market and created a "voyager", a cruiser for long-distance exploration. This new model sets a new standard for the brand, making the Nordic coupé boat relevant on the international market, particularly in the Mediterranean and the USA.
When announced in Düsseldorf in 2023, the boat was presented as the "Nimbus 465 Coupé". But as construction progressed, and new features were added, the shipyard opted for a new name, more in keeping with her 50-foot length.

Coupé models for long-distance travel
Coupé models have a special place in Nimbus history. For over 40 years, these models have been, for many, the ticket to coastal travel in the archipelago. The shipyard says that recent changes in travel and vacation habits have reinforced the need for many people to own their own "free zone" with all the comfort and security needed to vacation in their own country or in any other part of the world. That's why Nimbus has developed the 495 Flybridge: a boat concept based on deep-rooted traditions, but also designed to cover every possible need, now and in the future.

The Nimbus 495 Flybridge, an Explorer ship
The main purpose of the Nimbus 495 is to be a vessel of discovery, a "voyager". Consequently, tank capacities are designed to cover long distances, but also to be able to anchor autonomously for long periods without worrying about electricity, fresh water or black water storage capacity. The integration of low-energy solutions has been an important area of focus in the development of the new flagship. The idea is to offer a high level of comfort for traveling anywhere, for many weeks. One of the key features of the boat's overall design is that it should be as easy for two people to use in the demanding northern archipelago as it is comfortable and safe for two couples or a family to cruise the Mediterranean or the East Coast of the USA.

Jonas Göthberg, Sales Director at Nimbus Group AB, explains: "Our largest Coupé boats are actively used over long distances and throughout a long season. Many of our customers travel from northern Norway to the Baltic Sea with their boats, but also along the Mediterranean coast, the USA and as far as Alaska. We have customers crossing canals in Europe, or making the trip from Gothenburg to England. And often they're out there for many weeks at a time. This trend is growing, and we believe it's pointing towards a development where individuality, physical activity and nature experiences are important values. To meet this need for longer voyages, Nimbus has entered the Explorer market. The 495 Flybridge will offer social spaces where you can socialize easily and the exceptional feeling of freedom and security that only a vessel of this size can offer."

The salon, at the heart of the Nimbus 495 Flybridge
The Nimbus design department has worked to expand the Coupe segment, while building on the heritage of previous models. The saloon is the heart of this boat. This area of the main deck combines the cockpit, dining room, lounge and galley.

Future propulsion systems
With the launch of this model, the shipyard has set its sights on a long-term vision, in relation to the development of future propulsion systems. While today's model is equipped with two Volvo Penta IPS 650s, in the future long-range version, the works will be optimized for lower speeds, to minimize energy consumption and maximize range. In this version, propulsion will be hybrid, enhanced by a generator for greater autonomy.
