Cantieri di Pisa, relaunched by Enrico Gennasio, is betting on offshore exploration to renew its range. With the Super Polaris 70, designed by Antonio Luxardo, the shipyard is tackling a demanding format, both in terms of construction and operation. This 70-meter boat is designed to meet the needs of owners ready to spend long periods on board, in all climatic zones.

Explorer yacht: a variable-geometry definition?
Today, the term "explorer yacht" covers a wide range of vessels, from support vessels to long-range yachts and polar cruisers. The Super Polaris 70 boasts a range of 6000 nautical miles at 10 knots, powered by two CAT 3512 engines. Its positioning is based on its suitability for extended voyages, with particular attention paid to comfort. But beyond the line and the statement of intent, exploration is also based on the ability to carry crew, provisions, spare parts, workshops and adapted nautical means. This 70-meter yacht has two side garages for tenders up to 8.50 meters and two launching platforms on the main deck.

Modularity of outdoor spaces: what can you really do on board a 70-metre boat?
The Super Polaris 70 features decks with a flexible layout. The upper deck can accommodate a volleyball court, a padel court or a counter-current pool. This approach reflects the trend towards maximum personalization in the large yacht segment. On the Main Deck, the two main tenders (up to 12 meters) can be launched to transform the area into an outdoor lounge. However, versatility has its limits: the load on the structures, the accessibility of technical areas and safety all limit the scope for transformation.

Material mix: why combine steel, aluminum and composites on a ship of this size?
The choice of a combination of steel for the hull, aluminum for the superstructure and composite for certain upper parts is a classic choice in this segment. Steel provides structural strength and ice resistance. Aluminum lightened the upper parts to control the center of gravity. Composite offers freedom of shape and additional weight reduction. This type of combination requires precise control of mechanical, thermal and galvanic corrosion interfaces, especially on a vessel of this size. T. Mariotti's know-how in this field is well recognized in the passenger naval sector.

Onboard equipment: how far can explorer yachts be customized?
In addition to tenders and water toys (up to 12 boats in total), the Super Polaris 70 offers a 180-square-meter beach club with spa, gym and swimming pool. The main deck features a winter garden and the owner's cabin, a central apartment with two 20-square-meter terraces. The upper deck is dedicated to VIPs, with their own terrace. This level of personalization, made possible by Pulina Exclusive Interiors, requires a high degree of coordination between naval architecture and interior design.

Cantieri di Pisa, between heritage and industrial transformation
The Super Polaris 70 also marks the industrial relaunch of the Cantieri di Pisa shipyard. Historically known for the Akhir series, the yard delivered over 700 units between 1945 and 2012. Bought by Enrico Gennasio in 2021, the shipyard aims to return to high-end, made-to-measure production. The partnership with T. Mariotti opens up prospects in the large expedition yachts sector. Antonio Luxardo's signature creates a continuity of style while adapting the design to contemporary needs. The Super Polaris 70 is part of this rethinking process, combining respect for the historical DNA with openness to new sailing programs.
