In October 2025, Swedish shipyard Nimbus unveiled a new version of its 12 Series, which includes the Weekender 12, Tender 12 and Commuter 12 models. Behind a carefully preserved family resemblance, the builder introduces multiple adjustments. Some are visible from the dock, others can be discovered on board. Here's an overview of the main points of attention for yachtsmen and professionals alike.

A redesigned bridge layout for smooth traffic flow and varied uses
The extended rear platform becomes a central element of the new range. Integrated into the hull through double layering, it provides easier access to the water. The Tender 12 also features a fold-down bulwark on the starboard side, to enlarge the living area. On the Commuter 12, the aft space is also optimized with a convertible bench seat, which enhances mixed use for transport and relaxation. Circulation is smoother, and configurations more adaptable.

Ergonomics at the helm: new seats designed for long distances
The new helm seats have been specifically designed by Nimbus. More enveloping, with better lateral support, they respond to feedback from regular users who spend several hours a day at the helm. The design is sober, in the Scandinavian spirit of the shipyard, but aims to limit fatigue over long legs. This attention to ergonomics also extends to ventilation and acoustics, with discreet but sensitive work on overall comfort.

Powertrain: new Mercury V10 and Volvo inboard options
All Series 12 models are offered with two Mercury Verado V8 300 hp engines as standard. It is now possible to opt for the new 425 hp Mercury V10, notably on the Tender 12, which significantly modifies performance. The Commuter 12 and Tender 12 can also be fitted with two 320 hp Volvo Penta D4 inboards, with optional joystick steering assistance. This dual choice of engines allows the boat to be adapted to its main uses: fast cruising on open waters, or comfortable cruising for long trips.

Invisible but very present equipment: serviceability, lighting, autonomy
The 12 series is based on the tried-and-tested technical features of its predecessor, in particular the double-redan hull with steps. It retains its low lift-off threshold, and remains stable at over 45 knots. Beyond performance, Nimbus has worked on all systems: natural ventilation, interior lighting, soundproofing, on-board power management. A silent, battery-powered air-conditioning option (thanks to an inverter) completes the range for extended anchorage.

Three models, three programs, one base
The Weekender 12 takes its styling cues from the Nimbus 32 Ballista with its Targa version, adding a nod to heritage to a craft resolutely focused on relaxation on board. The Tender 12 remains the most modular, designed as a family day-boat with multiple social zones and optimized water access. The Commuter 12 stands out for its enclosed saloon-deck with integrated galley and curtains, for use in all weathers. All three units are of a similar size (12.70 meters long, 3.46 meters wide), with four berths in two double cabins, and a capacity of twelve.
