Nautic 880, an outboard helmsman that ticks all the boxes

The Nautic 880 is a 9 m helmsman powered by an outboard. This Polish-built unit is full of charm, in keeping with the codes of this type of boat, designed primarily for family cruising.

Bizarre. The discovery of Nautic 880 the new 2024 model previewed at the Boot in Dusseldorf in January 2024, doesn't look so unfamiliar. And yet, this 9 m helmsman is completely new. But as we climb aboard, we're left with an air of déjà vu, a feeling that we already know this boat, a feeling that we've been here before.

And with good reason. Nautic Yachts has been operating in Ostroda, Poland, for the past 4 years. Before producing its own boats, the yard was already a subcontractor for Bénéteau and Jeanneau. All the more reason to feel at home when discovering the Nautic 880.

The Nautic range is based on 2 hull models. The 10-meter 990, available in 3 versions (Open or Wheelhouse), and the brand-new 880, which is currently only available in Wheelhouse version. This boat is powered by an outboard concealed under a large sundeck, which cantilevers over the water. Recommended power is 150 hp, but the boat can handle up to 250 hp. For the local market, it's also available with a 60 hp for smoother, cleaner sailing.

A family unit

The Nautic 880 promises to be a family boat. Its well-equipped cockpit features numerous bench seats and a beautiful teak table in the middle. This cockpit is more suited to a meal than a frenzied fishing trip. The wheelhouse, offset to port, doesn't obstruct the view too much, even though it's glazed. The starboard gangway, wider than the port one, is used to access the deck. At the bow, a beautiful beach with a dolphin shelter ensures safe anchorage. The large sundeck is a further indication of the model's cruising vocation.

The wheelhouse, accessible through a bay window, has a classic layout for this type of unit: saloon and galley aft, helm station to starboard. The co-pilot has no place to sit facing the road next to the pilot. Descending into the cabin, we discover a double berth in the forepeak and an aft-cabin under the wheelhouse. The aft-cabin, with its generous headroom, offers a handsome double bed. With the option of converting the saloon into a berth, this brings the total number of berths to 6. A bathroom with shower area completes the interior. We also appreciate the fine finishing details, such as the beautiful, complete electrical panel.
