Test / Grand Golden Line G680, a semi-rigid with a coherent engine package

It's beautiful all in white! The latest addition to Grand's Golden Line range, the G680 is a semi-rigid with a lot going for it: well-equipped, comfortable and high-performance. Especially in combination with the Honda 200 hp, with which it pairs very well.

At Grand, the Ukrainian manufacturer of RIBs, the Golden Line is a range of highly fitted-out boats. It covers small sizes from 3.80 m up to the 8.50 m flagship. Depending on size, these boats feature a beautiful saloon at the stern, a protective console and a bow equipped with a sundeck.

Grand's latest model, the G680

The G680 is easy to board from the stern, thanks to bathing platforms that are long enough to be close to the dock. Of particular note is the rigid rear section of the stern sections, which incorporates a small step. Elegant, but difficult to understand at what point in the navigation it will be used?

Quality facilities

The U-shaped saloon, with benches protected by a handsome backrest, can be accessed from the outside on a rigid gangplank to avoid stepping on the flanges. The passenger's balance is helped by the water-ski mast. A beautiful piece topped by a sort of wing, which will house the antennas and contribute to the overall silhouette of this inflatable.

Behind the console seat is a "kitchen" limited to a sink and fridge underneath. A removable table sits in front of the bench seat to form the dining area.

A protective console

The cockpit is well protected by a wraparound windscreen. Pilot and co-pilot can choose to sit or stand. Passengers standing around the console will find the two handrails useful.

Storage galore

The front of the console tilts down to reveal an attractive storage area, large enough to accommodate all the cushions when you leave the boat. Forward, a sundeck can occupy the entire space up to the bow. The raised berth above the anchor locker offers a comfortable position for lying down.

A large, accessible anchorage

The anchor locker, with its davit running through the hull, is particularly well designed. Invisible from the deck, it is also easily accessible as soon as you open the hood. At the very front, a small deck glued to the hull planking facilitates disembarkation from the bow.

Handrails everywhere

On this boat, particular attention has been paid to the number and location of handrails. They are everywhere: on the forward sundeck, on the console, on the seat, in front of the console, on the pilot's seat... A very good point for this boat, which offers a high level of safety for all passengers.

Dynamic and reassuring

We discovered the boat in its white hypalon livery, which, combined with the Honda BF200 in the same color, was a real eye-catcher. Together with the 200 hp, this package makes for a lively, responsive, high-performance boat. A truly harmonious package! With 4 people on board, the boat reached speeds in excess of 39 knots in beautiful seas. All this in a comfort that will reassure fathers, but with enough playful behavior to make you want to go titillate some offshore waves.

This boat is available from its French importer, Toni Marine, at a price of ?34,871 bareboat, and ?94,004 in the version tested with options and 200 hp Honda.
