A family history
Cruising on the Côte d'Azur, the Nicolaysen family have been enjoying the charms of the Mediterranean for many years. But the recurrence of dinghy thefts, of which they themselves have been victims on several occasions, led them to revisit this equipment.
Based on this simple observation and their own personal experience, Valérie and Karl Nicolaysen created the Ocean Skull brand, which markets a complete range of new-style tires. Karl is a marine mechanic and speedboat pilot, and Valérie has always been a keen water sports enthusiast. She explains to us the approach taken by all family members:
" We set out to create radically different models, with an aesthetic touch not found on any other tire. We created our own logo, inspired by our culture and family life, which we incorporated into a colorful, graphic design ".
Apart from its undeniable visual appeal, it's hard for a thief to steal a dinghy that's easy to spot among a uniform fleet.
Protection against theft is also ensured by a double serial number marking, found on the transom and on the high-pressure floor. While the plate can be easily removed, it is impossible to remove the number from the floorboard without damaging it.
A range of tires from 2.4 to 4.2m
Ocean Skull offers a range of inflatable floor models from 2.4 to 4.2m. Lightweight and robust, all models are fully foldable. Made of PVC, the floats offer generous volumes to ensure greater stability. The gull-wing hull facilitates passage through choppy waters, and all models come with a two-year warranty.
Each model is offered in a limited series, and different float colors are available.
Also paddles and kayaks
In the same aesthetic vein as its inflatables, Ocean Skull also offers a range of paddles and kayaks, available in 12-foot versions for paddles and 2 or 3-seater kayaks.
