Source 22, a sporty open hull for speed and water sports

To each program its own boat, such is the philosophy of the Danish Rand Boat. Thus, the Source 22 responds to a program of speed and water sports, while retaining large spaces to meet all together. Although developed for electric propulsion, the Source 22 can also be fitted with a combustion engine, outboard or inboard.

50 knots with thermal engines

Inspired by racing boats, but also by sports cars, the Source 22 is a 6.7 m long open hull with a sporty design. This is the program for which it was designed: to enjoy speed and water sports. It is also the first boat with a planing hull in the range, available in an electric version. However, it is with a Mercury thermal outboard of 250 hp, the maximum power, that it reaches its maximum speed of 50 knots. In its electric version, the Source 22 can be equipped with a 50 kW Torqeedo Deep Blue or a 170 kW E-Drive motor for a speed of 30/40 knots.

The shipyard specifies that it is at a speed of 28 knots that the boat is the most efficient, with a 30% reduction in fuel or electricity consumption, depending on the engine chosen.

Fast, but comfortable to spend pleasant moments

As for the layout, the Source 22 has plenty of storage space, including two large 1,000 L lockers. The first is located under the cockpit sundeck, the second on the bow. Although sporty, the Source 22 also allows you to have a good time on board, thanks to numerous seats and sunbathing areas whose configuration can be modulated. The bow offers a large 170 x 160 sunbed with backrest. In the cockpit, the sunbed backrest moves easily to create a large reclining area facing the sea or the interior of the boat, or a bench seat around the cockpit table. The back of the pilot seat also tilts forward to provide two additional cockpit seats. The table folds down to create an XL sunbathing area of 200 x 140 cm. An optional portable cooler allows for cool storage of supplies.

The steering console is equipped with a small windscreen and handrails. The two comfortable pilot seats, with padded backrests, can be fitted with a removable cushion, stored under the seat, to drive standing up while being well supported. A clever layout!

Several new features to make life easier for boaters

The Source 22 introduces several new features, such as the possibility of disembarking from the bow, the swim ladder hidden in the rear platform, towing supports, but above all a bimini that stows against the bulwarks and along the rear sundeck. According to the shipyard, the latter is easy to install, but the model exhibited in Cannes was not yet equipped with one, so it is impossible to verify the information.

The new Rand application allows you to control your boat remotely, including geolocation. The Source 22 can also be equipped with an automatic pilot.

On the production side, the Source 22 is made of half recycled plastic and sustainable wood. Although designed for electric power, the Source 22 should find its audience of speed-seeking sportsmen in its thermal version.
