Web series / Nomad Citizen Sailing, discovery of the Cousteau marine reserve in Guadeloupe

Since March 2022, Nomad Citizen Sailing has been enjoying the turquoise waters of the French West Indies. In this new episode - windy - they share with us their navigation between the Saintes and Guadeloupe and make us discover the abundant fauna of the Cousteau reserve.

Daniela, Marvin and their two children, Tara and Soan have chosen a nomadic lifestyle. They have chosen an Oceanis Clipper 311 sailboat as their home and it is on board that they sail gently according to their wishes. Settled for several months in the West Indies, they discover the beauty of the Caribbean islands and their crystal clear and warm waters.

Crossing the Canal des Saintes

After a passage in Les Saintes, they now reach Guadeloupe and more precisely Malendure, a black sand beach located in the west of the island, known for its seabed which shelters the Cousteau reserve.

This 20-mile sail began calmly with about ten knots of wind before becoming more sporty, with the anemometer climbing to 22 knots. It was time to reef to slow down the pace, which finally came to a halt as Nomad Citizen found herself stuck in the calm.

A preserved underwater fauna

It is not by chance that Daniela and Marvin have chosen this anchorage. It is one of the most beautiful tourist sites of Guadeloupe, composed of the Pigeon Islands and 1,000 hectares of exceptional underwater world. Marvin discovered the marine reserve by scuba diving while Daniela took care of the children on board their boat. Very beautiful images of the sea bed that the young father makes us discover.
