Clarisse Crémer will participate in the next Vendée Globe in 2024 aboard one of the most successful 2020 generation hydrofoil boats in its category, for which she is unveiling the buyout.

An IMOCA fully matured and performing

In October 2021, we announced clarisse Crémer's ambition to take part in the Vendée Globe 2024 on a new foil boat. For contractual reasons, Banque Populaire was unable to announce the boat chosen for this new solo round the world race. Even though rumors were rife on the pontoons.

The young sailor's sponsor waited until the finish of the 2021 Transat Jacques Vabre to reveal the name of Clarisse's new foiler. It is Apivia, the yellow Verdier design of Charlie Dalin, 2nd in the Vendée Globe and in the Jacques Vabre. Launched in 2019, Apivia is one of the most successful boats of its generation and has achieved several great successes. We were also able to do a test on board the 60-foot monohull before the double-handed transatlantic race, and noted his speed potential compared to the rest of the competitors.

Gaining in performance

If Clarisse Crémer's desire to go back and compete with the best sailors in the world was obvious, she wanted to move up a step in her learning process. After a 12th place on an IMOCA daggerboard in 2020 and the record of the first fastest woman in the round the world race The latter will be able to perform even better and faster than ever on Banque Populaire XII (the new name of Apivia).

"I'm looking forward to taking it to the next level in terms of performance and demands. I have been lucky enough to sail one of the most successful daggerboard boats (Banque Populaire X) and now we are moving into the future with one of the most competitive foiling boats." explains the navigator.

"The IMOCA "Apivia" is certainly one of the best, if not the best boat of the 2020 generation" adds Ronan Lucas, director of the Banque Populaire team.

A hands-on experience on the return trip of the Jacques Vabre

To begin the training of her new foiler, Clarisse will participate in the return delivery of Apivia from Martinique to Lorient with Charlie Dalin's technical team. The return trip is scheduled for later this week. As for the boat itself, she will take possession of it after the Route du Rhum 2022, a last race aboard his current boat for Charlie Dalin, before he gets his new boat, still designed by Verdier.

"We know that she is one of the best boats of the last generation, that she has incredible speed capabilities. It's an IMOCA boat that needs no introduction and that was developed by one of the most important teams in ocean racing. I know that the step between my old boat and this one is important but it is the same universe, the same logic and I already have a precise idea of the work to be done in order to perform well on board. It's an incredible challenge and I can only be enthusiastic about discovering this monohull" concludes Clarisse Crémer.
