Official launch of Med Max Occitanie - Saïda Resorts

From an idea launched in 2023, the Med Max Occitanie - Saïda Resorts has become a reality with the publication of the notice of race and the opening of entries. Reserved for Class40 and Ocean Fifty yachts, this race will take skippers from Grau du Roi - Port Camargue to Saïda Resorts, in the Oriental region of Morocco. They will all start on the same starting line on September 29, 2024, with the finish scheduled for October 4. The monohulls will have a course of 1,080 miles, compared with 1,500 miles for the multihulls.

Pen Duick VI, first to round Cape Horn in the Ocean Globe Race

Pen Duick VI was the first monohull in the McIntyre Ocean Globe Race fleet to round Cape Horn at 04:51 UTC on February 6. The Italian Translated 9 rounded the famous cape 5h30 later, and continued the battle for the rankings as it sailed up the east coast towards Punta del Este, Uruguay. The latter is currently leading the race, but has warned race management of a crack in its hull. A stopover is planned in the Falkland Islands.

Leader of the Arkea Ultim Challenge since January 17, Charles Caudrelier crossed the longitude of Cape Horn, at the southern tip of America, at 18h08'40'' on February 6, after 30 days 4 hours 38 minutes and 40 seconds of racing. While he managed to beat the Indian Ocean record, the Cape Horn record is held by François Gabart, with a time of 29 days 03 hours and 15 minutes between Ushant and Cape Horn in 2017.

10 environmental commitments made by the Vendée Globe

As a media race followed by the general public, the Vendée Globe has established 10 strong environmental commitments to reduce its carbon footprint and protect the oceans. This approach is based on four major axes: Anticipate, Reduce - both the impact of the village and that of visitors and boats - Inspire and Build a positive legacy by creating the "Vendée Globe Foundation" Endowment Fund to finance, in particular, the coordination of participative science by skippers around the world in partnership with UNESCO.

A first private AC40 team

With 11 AC40s already in the water, the class association has just announced that the first private owner has joined the circuit. A priori experienced in sailing, the team wishes to remain anonymous for the time being.

Three Frenchmen in the Top 10 of the iQFoil World Championship

On February 3, 2024, three Frenchmen were competing in the finals of the iQFOiL Windsurfing World Championship in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Nicolas Goyard, 6th, Youn Pouliquen, 7th and Louis Pignolet, 9th, bowed out in the ¼ final, after a particularly busy week. Italy's Nicolo Renna takes the world title ahead of Poland's Pawe? Tarnowski. This was also the last competition for Pierre le Coq, bronze medallist at the 2019 Rio Olympics. In the women's category, the French Lola Sorin (15th), Delphine Cousin (22nd) and Hélène Noesmoen (25th) failed to reach the final stages.
