Discovery / The Antares 11, the family cruiser for holidays at sea

The Antares 11 is an 11.08 m long speedboat. The largest model in the Antares outboard range, this cruiser had to meet the following specifications: Comfort, family, security and protection. And on the whole, the wager is respected.

A large indoor/outdoor space

To save space on board, Bénéteau has chosen to offset the roof with a large starboard gangway, which will be used to move around on board.

The builder chose to link the interior and exterior by leaving the sliding cockpit door open, but also by installing a cushion between the outer and inner benches, thus forming a huge U-shaped seat. The shipyard is also studying the possibility of installing only one table, which can be moved either in the saloon or in the cockpit. Indeed, this is the very first model to come out of the factories, which has allowed us to validate some youthful defects, which will be corrected on the next models.

The big novelty on the Antares 11 is the starboard bulwark which unfolds out to sea. Currently offered as an option, it will later be installed as standard. It allows to enlarge the cockpit area and to offer an additional access to the sea, in addition to the beautiful aft platforms. For lazing around, the aft cockpit bench seat can be transformed into a sunbathing area.

This large cockpit protected from the sun by the roof cap equipped with an awning can be completely closed by a camping awning. A protection appreciated in the Scandinavian countries, to continue to enjoy the outdoors even in bad weather.

A beautiful sunbathing area at the bow

Access to the foredeck is easy, via the starboard gangway, which is wide and protected. There is a sunbathing area with a lift-up backrest. The cup holders hidden in the centre cushion are appreciated, as is the ability to keep the deck hatch in the forward cabin uncovered. A bimini will bring the expected shade.

A simple but sufficient interior

On the main deck, which has a fairly simple interior layout, there is a lounge area on the port side with an L-shaped bench seat and a table that folds out. By tilting the backrest aft, it is possible to create a co-pilot's bench facing the sea, but the implementation could be improved, as the mechanism is a bit loose.

To starboard, the galley offers a sink, a two-burner stove, a refrigerator and ample storage space. At the front, the cockpit is fitted with a comfortable seat that allows the driver to sit or stand, by raising the cushion. The dashboard is very large and has a large screen in the centre. Forward visibility is good through the windshield. To facilitate manoeuvring, the cockpit is equipped with a side door, which gives direct access to a coupé door, ideal for harbour manoeuvres.

Two cabins and storage

Below deck, the layout is going to be a little fixed. Indeed, the large space under the cockpit - which could largely accommodate a toilet in view of the space - will be reduced and will be used as a storage area. To do this, the forward cabin bulkhead will be moved forward 5 cm.

The owner's cabin, installed at the front, has a large double bed and storage space. Hull glazing in conjunction with the deck hatch will ensure good ventilation of the space.

On the port side, a second cabin offers a second double berth, but is more suitable for children. Indeed, the height under barrot is really reduced, but especially the access is complicated for an adult. But once again, the building site will revise its copy by reworking the chamfer of the polyester structure and adding a seat to the bookcase found at the entrance. At the bottom of the cabin there is a bench that can be used as an extra bed, but you will have to crawl to get to it.

The Antares 11 is powered by two 300 HP outboard motors. Two fuel tanks of 400 L each as well as a water tank of 200 L will allow you to go on holiday and be autonomous for several days.

A family boat

In spite of some youthful flaws that will soon be erased, the Antares 11 offers interesting features, starting with the large interior/exterior space, which can be totally enclosed to enjoy it in all weathers. The opening bulwark is also a good idea to enjoy the sea. With its two cabins, you will be able to stay comfortably with your family and enjoy your holidays at sea.
