The boat
We advise you to carry out these checks at the pontoon if your boat is already in the water or on a quay in the case of a transportable boat.
- First, perform a thorough visual inspection of your boat. Check for damage to the electrical and hydraulic cables and upholstery.
- Inspect the steering parts, controls, etc., and make sure they are undamaged and working properly.
- Fuel hoses, hose clamps, hose fittings and oil filler caps must be in good condition and free from leaks, cracks or wear.
- Don't hesitate to change filters as needed, and make sure your fuel doesn't have any deposits or spoilage, or has been contaminated with water or smells very strong.
- Recharge the batteries and check the water levels if available.
- Cables and cable ends must be clean and safe.
- Check the engine for corrosion and leaks. If it has been prepared for winter, it should run smoothly after priming the fuel system and starting the batteries.
- Start your engine and check that it is working properly: temperature, gear change (connecting rod), fuel gauge.

Safety equipment
Before the first sail, don't forget to check your safety equipment: horn or whistle, flares, fire extinguishers and life jackets should be in good condition. Look at the expiry dates.
