Aventura Power 14, a layout never seen before on a catamaran

To successfully accommodate 6 double cabins in a 13.50 m catamaran, the architect Samer Lasta moved all the equipment under the nacelle. It thus frees the hulls from all constraints. Discovery of this future plan for a very innovative motor catamaran.

In 2016, the STGI Marine shipyard that produces the Aventuras launched itself on the motor catamaran market with a 10 m model: the Aventura 10 Power. With a size unique on the market (rather reserved for the largest units), this catamaran is now pursuing a fine commercial career. On the strength of this success, and at the request of customers, the site once again approached its architect Samer Lasta to ask him to design a 13.50 m model: it will be the Aventure 14 Power.

A raised nacelle floor

The starting point of the specifications was to be able to accommodate 6 cabins and 6 toilets to reach the rental market. Samer Lasta achieved this feat on the Aventura 14. Without denaturing the boat, avoiding drawing very large and voluminous hulls, he took the option of installing all the technical equipment under the nacelle (tank, hot water, watermaker, air conditioning...). Thus the hulls are empty of any constraints and can be easily arranged. Only the 2 engines remain, but are located at the rear of the hulls. These are inboard engines whose propulsion is entrusted to a V-Drive (V-shaped shaft line), thus saving a maximum of space.

To receive the technical equipment, the floor of the saloon is slightly higher than on a traditional catamaran. Samer Lasta explains that he obtains a 70 cm high hold over the entire length of the nacelle, from the rear beam to the right of the front windows. The section at the front of the boat is occupied by the berths in the forward cabins and by an external cockpit.

An elegant line

This installation, never before carried out on a catamaran, does not penalize too much the general line of the boat which, as a result, finds itself with a deckhouse slightly higher than normal. In addition, access to the hulls, due to the raised floor, also requires 2 additional steps on the slopes. To avoid facing a descent that is too high and too steep, Samer Lasta designed a 45° inclined staircase.

In addition to being able to optimize the layout of the floats and install the 6 cabins, this layout offers a very large volume for the tanks in particular. Thus the Power 14 is announced with a fuel capacity of 3000 litres with the possibility of adding an optional 1000 litre tank. The weight being well centered in the boat.

Speed and autonomy

For the time being, the consumption calculations are not definitive, but it is likely that with such a capacity, the Power 14's range will be large, even offering sufficient autonomy for a deckchair in convoy mode. In terms of performance, the architect designed an almost floating hull that should be able to reach 22 knots at its peak (with 2 x 400 hp) and 16 knots at cruising speed.

Like a small yacht

For the fittings, research on ergonomics and life on board was carried out. Thus, the boat is completely level from the stern of the cockpit to the forward deck through a central door in the middle of the saloon. The cockpit table is off-centre on the port side to provide better circulation on board. It is large enough to accommodate 12 guests. A large flybridge (27 m2) is also available to enjoy the sun.

If the boat can accommodate 6 cabins, it will also be offered in an owner's version. In this case, the port hull will be reserved for it with its own saloon with a television corner, dressing room and bathroom. Note that 2 descents give access to totally independent aft cabins which can be practical when you want to have a crew (skipper and hostess). The whole boat is treated like a small yacht, just like the layout of the owner's hull or the adoption of an American-style refrigerator 70 cm wide.

To be discovered in 2020

The first sketches of the boat are presented at the Cannes 2019 show, the launch of the modeling is underway and the first unit is announced for September 2020.
