The Alubat shipyard is launching a new model of sailboat. The Ovni 400 is designed by the Martain-Mavrikios architectural firm. This 40-foot (12.90 m) model is based on the concepts of the Vendée shipyard. It will be a dinghy with the hull and deck made of aluminium. We are staying here on a bilge hull and not in shape, but with one less bilge than on the "old" models.
In June 2019, the hull has just left the boiler room while the sailboat is announced to be exhibited at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle in September. There is a radical change in the shape of the deckhouse compared to the old range. No more whistles, now the deckhouse is equipped with vertical portholes that will give visibility forward from the saloon. This type of design is a little reminiscent of the Mojito deckhouse at IDB Marine.
On the hull side, this sailboat has a slightly inverted bow with a very rounded front. The management is entrusted to a double rudder. The weighted daggerboard of 1150 kg, fits completely into the hull. We can notice a very modern V-shaped shape with a maximum beam of 4.35 m very far back and which extends to the painting. These solutions have been chosen to allow the boat to be certified in category A, which is not always obvious for full dinghies.
The layout plans offer 2 or 3 cabins with 1 or 2 bathrooms. In the 2-cabin version, the aft bathroom has a shower separate from the WC. The layout is constrained by the bench in the saloon installed above the daggerboard. The table being offset to port. The galley facing him on starboard.
